The dramatic Chinatown Gate landmark at Cermak and Wentworth was based on a wall in Beijing and installed in 1975. As you gaze up at the hand painted ornamental tiles, 4 large characters translate "The world belongs to the commonwealth". It was a famous saying in the early part of the last century.
