If you're an American, bring cash. My credit card worked everywhere except here even though it had a chip . They said they only take Dutch debit and credit cards.

The budget supermarket chain of Netherlands. Available at many location. Enough variaty, good quality. Some of the shops does not accept cash, as before shopping.

The only cold beer they sell is Heineken .

This is not Amsterdam's loveliest Albert Heijn, it has a poor selection of goods compared with the one on the Elandsgracht (5 min walk away) - I'd recommend going there instead.
