Went to a taping of Stephen Colbert, it was absolutely amazing, the highlight of my trip. The wait in line was a little long, especially in the rain but the show made up for it. Got 5 rows from front.
Everyone knows about this legendary theater , right? But did you know that Arthur Hammerstein built (the originally named) Hammerstein’s Theater in honor of his father, Oscar Hammerstein I ??
Arrived 2:45 to check in. With ticket #356, we were the first to be denied entry. Lesson: be there by 2 to check in. You don't have to have a printed ticket bc they search by last name. Bummer for us.
Historic theater . Get in line between 12 and 1pm for great seats. Bring a jacket . It gets cold inside, even during the summer.
Now occupied by The Late Show with David Letterman, The Ed Sullivan Theater also served as the longtime home of its namesake, The Ed Sullivan Show until 1971.

It was amazing being able to see the inside of this historic theater . A tip tho: luckily I knew ahead of time but make sure u dress warm Cus letterman likes his studio cold!

Worth the long wait !!! David Letterman cannot retire ever!!!
You will have to wait in line with a bunch of rowdy tourists if you want to see Letterman. But worth the wait to see the theater inside. Piece of history, no doubt.

Good time, studio wasn't that bad, but then again it was pretty warm the day I was there.
The Beatles played their inaugural concert here in 1964.
Overheard tourist saying: "Hey, I think the Letterman show tapes here." Really? What gave that away? The 5 marquees outside? Really? Really?!
