A monument in the 5th arrondissement of Paris,✨ atop the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, built between 1758 and 1790, designs by Jacques-Germain Soufflot , at the behest of King Louis XV of France ????????
Really cool--you can see the tomb of tons of famous historic figures. Also, in front of the Pantheon is perhaps my favorite view in France :)
Cicero is quoted as saying: “Gratefulness is not only the largest of the virtues, but also the origin of all the others”. And the history of the Pantheon is a very visible sign of gratefulness. Read more
This trip might have limited usefulness, but: during a heat wave (2019 — brutal!), the Panthéon is the chilliest place to take a load off and cool down.
Beautiful architecture and paintings make this a great visit for photographers . Take a guided tour to the top for a great panoramic view !
View the tomb of Voltaire, Alexandre Dumas, Marie Curie and Victor Hugo here. Rather unexpectedly, we enjoyed this museum . Focault's pendulum currently not on display till further notice.
Most impressive monument in the Latin Quarter. The most famous French historical figures are buried there. You can visit it during certain periods of the year.
This place glorifies 'la patrie' and French history so much that it makes you want to apply for French citizenship asap. Useful digital information panels at the entrance.
This was my 1st destination as a tourist in France , somewhat by accident; it's an imposing building that is impossible to miss if you're driving by. It was one of the most memorable places I visited.
Great place to visit. Nice and cool when the weather is hot! Great place to take photographs (though tripods of any kind are banned).
Make sure to check out the crypt and its residents. Only problem is you're SOL if you don't speak French as there are no translations on anything so who knows who you're reading about.
Great square, Pantheon is monumental
Catacombs for the rich ????. Interesting and open space , you can see the resting place of various historic people
Originally built as a church , it's now a mausoleum containing the remains of distinguished French citizens. Free entry for young Europeans under 26.
It was originally built as a church and to house the reliquary châsse containing her relics, now functions as a secular mausoleum containing the remains of distinguished French citizens.
Architecture is breathtaking. The pendulum isn't there until September '15 though. The crypt was my favourite part.
The architecture is fabulous and it's unbelievably big. Not sure how long it took to make such a beautiful building like that.
Can't visit Paris without seeing this amazing building. It's crypt is where France buries it's most notable citizens
8 euros a ticket for admission. Many famous people are buried here. Don't forget to check out the crypt.
Try to get the tour . It's only in french, but it's good. This monument is not so visited, but beautiful and has a lot of french history and its main "actors"
Don't miss this historic site . Spare time to get around the lower floor, it's worth it.
Stunning views and architecture , but they history of it all is probably the most inspiring.
Included in the Museum pass, uphill walk from Luxembourg RER
Great philosophers, valuable scintists are resting under this monumental building. Respect for all of them.
The building is awsome but now a days you need to pay 10 euros to get in. 3 years ago it was still free to entre .
It is an early example of neo-classicism, with a façade modelled on the Pantheon in Rome.
Cool architecture . Get the audio guide in your language unless you know French.
Pretty cool. Historic architecture with nice view and a museum inside.
Really great museum . It's definitely worth visiting it. :-)
