The best running films , great food served like in a restaurant and friendly people. Clearly a wonderful place to work as well as be a paying customer. In Austin all other theaters might as well close!
One of my favorite theaters in the country . Great selection of movies , great service and terrific drinks. Love the specialty series like Terror Tuesdays also.
If you're not from Austin, or have never been to an Alamo Drafthouse, prepare to have your socks blown off. Fantastic moviegoing experience. Come early, have a few drinks, watch happily.
The same holder that holds order slips behind the shelf also holds the menus too. Figure this out and you'll never look foolish.
This place is cinephile heaven! The cinemas are small and intimate , the chairs are comfy and the food is great! Plus I love the vintage film posters that line the halls ❤️
Cinema , Austin-style. This Sixth Street institution is notorious for its gloriously silly special screenings, such as The Big Lebowski and Wayne’s World quote-a-longs, complete with comedy props. Read more
Arrive 30 mins before for amazing pre-shows. Write your order on the sheet of paper & place it standing up for your server to grab. Get some fried pickles with a scotch ale to go along with the movie
Great selection of indie movies including out there compilations and re-releases of classics. Extensive menu and great service.
Arguably the best movie theater I've been to in the US. Pre select seating, choice of great beers , and food delivered to your seat!
They take food orders inside movie theater and you will get lots of disturbances while watching a movie .
Usually amazing overall experience, great movies , great food and drink, but would it kill you Alamo, to buy the finer grain sandpaper to use in the toilet paper dispenser? Unwittingly exfoli_assed
Hands down best place to see a movie in Austin. Aside from their great selection and the fact that you can drink a pitcher while you watch, the pre-feature on-screen entertainment is spot on.
The OG Alamo doesn’t have the bomb reclining seats, but the pre-preview content is excellent, so is the Parmesan popcorn and queso .
I love Alamo Drafthouse, but the bench style tables at S. Lamar are a drag. It's hard for people to get in/out before the movie and during. Not sure why they didn't modernize it during the renovation.
Awesome revamp of the old theater. Went there for a company even and we all received super quick and attentive service . Parking was tough but that's temporary.
I love the drafthouse. Preferred movie watching experience. Great food. Go early, the pre-rolls are amazing.
I tend to order beers when coming here for movies but the margarita I got at yesterday's Dr strong showing was amazingly strong without being overpowering ????
Ask if Bruce Campbell will make a surprise appearance. . . There's always a chance!
Austin-based chain of dinner-and-a-movie theaters shows first-run flicks , but it's their signature events - sing-alongs, Weird Wednesdays, Master Pancake and more - that make them a local favorite.
Modern, but kitch, friendly , but firm, big, but intimate ... Enjoy a theater with an Austin vibe, great food, and friendly staff !
Since the remodel, it's been much easier to go here because the parking garage helped ease parking worries. Grab a beer before the show!
Recently renovated and SO amazing. I can't wait to take everyone who visits me here. By far the coolest theater I've been to.
An absolute gem just like all the draft houses. Plus, the spaceships inside and "You're Next" mural all the outside wall is are alone worth the price of admission.
Great experience: food was great, plenty of drink choices and attentive wait staff . Seats are also very comfortable
This place is a treat anytime, but check it out when big movies are coming out. They usually have special menu items that have to do with the movie , like butterbeer for Harry Potter.
A movie theater that is the way movie theaters should be. Great experience
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema: Amazing food and experience, but be sure not to talk, text or status update during your movie ! If they receive a complaint, they'll kick you out. Talk about full service!
Great food & drinks brought to my seat by friendly and swift waitstaff , awesome programing, and a strict no-talking/no-texting/no-cell phones/no kids under a certain age.
Great Alamo... Just opened a strip of shops and restaurants across the theater.. Awesome places to chill while you wait...
A superior cinema ! Their theme nights, good food, awesome pre-shows and nice staff make this group of cinemas my favorite to visit!!
Munchkins younger than 3 are free on Baby Days (shows that start before 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons)! The idea is that you watch a flick , baby maybe naps, and if he fusses, no one minds.
Great food, very friendly staff , fantastic customer service, comfy theatres, fun drink and menu options.
The green chili Mac and cheese is great but very spicy , which wouldn't be a "but" except that its dark & you can't see what you're eating & there's a giant pile of roasted green chilies .
You must grab some of the brownie cookies and refuse to share. It's the same cool vibe minus the judge-y feeling you get downtown.
Super friendly service , authentic look & both food + IPA beers were great
Most of the Drafthouse Recommends movies get premiered here, and most of the live events are here as well .
Ok, so it's not technically a restaurant , but nobody bothered to tell them. You won't eat this well at any movie theatre, and thanks to the roving waiters , you'll never have to leave your seat either.
Order the bacon pizza ! Come here for free showings of tv shows. The Walking Dead is 1000 times better on a big screen plus GUINNESS MILKSHAKES
The Action Pack screenings are guaranteed fun. Expect movie-themed meals, pre-show games, comedy , trivia , prizes, and don’t be surprised if you find an inflatable bat under the seat. Read more
Reserved Seaters who show up late and go to the middle of the aisle: Learn how to duck under the table so you don't make everyone move and don't knock over people's beers !
Parking closer to the elevators may be more helpful than parking on a lower floor.
Free screenings have reserved seating. Arrive early, get your seats and then come back later for the show!
I could eat South Lamar's green chili mac'n cheese everyday for the rest of my life. Best Alamo location for food. Maybe even in general.
Parking is not optimal so get there early and grab a drink at Highball as you let traffic get out of the parking lot after a movie .
Free parking in the nearby garage . Just be warned that it's a bit tight in there. And busy.
Always has been one of my favorite theaters for a lot of reasons. But this parking garage situation is a disaster site...
3 full lines for different movies in the lobby 15 minutes pre-show makes for a less than pleasant wait. Maybe show one less screening of each daily so that we could enter the theater a bit sooner?
Just valet it and leave a tip, parking can take 10-15 minutes as the garage is tight and generally crowded
Love the beer selection and the pizzas
The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is just your run of the mill theater...except for those showings of Big Lebowski Quote-Alongs and its very own version of Iron Chef contests.
Lots of fun! Make sure to call ahead on weekend nights to book a lane for bowling! Also you can borrow board games to play! Try Dirty Scrabble!! - Taylor Martin
come to @fantasticfest like it's a strip club: packing some of singles, b/c even if you're just drinking iced water, you still need to tip those hard-working servers whenever you can. - bobb x ha
Check out the bar not as great as Alamo but a great option. - Rachel Fowler
Secret Menu Item: Chicken Bites! One of the few protein options on the menu. Takes 10 mins but worth it! - Kurt Hoppe
Comfortable interior, with an elevated balcony, good variety of cocktails with a specialization in tequila. A little pricy though - James Stephenson
Superb. Try the spicy coconut peanut, one of their vegan flavors! - Brian Nunnery
Lockhart burger is a MUST! The special with beer battered shallots is also tasty. The custards are smooth, creamy and delicious. The fries are perfection- crispy on the outside soft inside. - Paola Mckee
