Brixton Recreation Centre

The recent refurb is brilliant and has made me look forward to going to the gym . Most cardio machines now have individual TVs so you can watch your fave show while you work out.

This is a proper cut-through the layers of Brixton! Friendly staff and punters of all sorts, from toddlers to school swims , adults and retirees! They do aquarobics with quite loud music late am's.

Great pool! On the top floor with windows overlooking the railway so you see the trains go past as you swim :)

No need to bring a plastic bag for your wet swimmies as there is an excellent swimming costume drier in the changing rooms!

The climbing wall is excellent, gets a bit warm though so make sure you have a drink with you!

The teacher who is doing the pebbles (4-6 years old) session on Sunday morning is really nice

Have a pound coin for the locker. It's nice it's being returned after you use the locker!

Great swimming pools ... quite cold though (in or out the water)

Try Franca Manca pizza in Brixton Market after a swim or workout - amazing authentic Italian pizza will hit the spot....

Avoid coming at the very end of a month. The queues of people booking their kids into swimming lessons for the following month is unbearable.

Lots of squash courts . No warm water in the showers though.

Soft play zone is super for the children

3g football pitch.

Have extreme patience with the annoying staff
