It is very much as described with a reciprocal membership it is great to stop at for 30 minutes. (It is also air conditioned )
Probably the most unique and interesting place I have seen in Chicago. A must see if your ever in Chicago.
Museum was 4 floors. Interesting artifacts and exhibits - really liked the giant murals of breakthrough surgical procedures (4th floor).

Check out Curie. She is amazing and her flask could be barium or whiskey .
Not much to see. Lots of imagines with stories and not a lot of old actual equipment. Wasn’t worth the cost
