Interesting and well researched museum , but difficult to reach. Bus 89 to Itoman and then 82 to the museum . One way ~1000¥
Take tram ride through park ; on/off all day for ¥100
It's good to visit this place and share some history about WW2 with the family!
悲惨な戦争の教訓を後世に伝え、世界恒久平和の実現に寄与するためとして開館した。沖縄戦 に関する軍関係文書や個人所蔵の文書、ひめゆり学徒の手記等が収蔵・展示 される。館内の展示 は5部構成であり、「沖縄戦 への道」、「鉄の暴風」、「地獄の戦場」、「沖縄戦 の証言」、「太平洋への要石」。証言も聞け、読むこともできる。
平和の礎には各国・各県の方の名前もあったことから、ここで平和を祈念することは県内だけの問題ではないだろう、と思いました。
