They have so much good food; the waitress was very helpful in finding me vegetarian dishes . The pretzel is enormous and so fun! Potato pancakes and mashed potatoes were really good.
Really nice restaurant right in the middle of downtown Chicago. The interior of this place is beautiful and reflects the history. The pretzel appetizer is also great and huge!
Pete’s Bouillabaisse (Shrimp , bay scallop , salmon , mussels , calamari , saffron-infused stock, jasmine rice timbale, garlic crostini )
I love this restaurant whenever I'm in Chicago. Whether it's pierogies and fish in the main restaurant or Corned beef from the carvery downstairs. It's always been good!
Excellent atmosphere and food. Full of charm. Beautiful murals of the World's Fair . Came here St. Patrick's Day weekend & had the best Reuben I've ever had. Highly recommend!
Traditional German cuisine with all your schnitzel needs. Be sure to get one of their Berghoff brews to wash it all down.
The pretzel is very good, but it is a meal on its own. Be careful and don't order it if you're planning on having much else!
Game Sausage Plate (Boar , venison , and duck sausages topped with a rich Madeira sauce served with caramelized root vegetables and house-made spätzel)
Gretchen’s potato pancakes are a must! The Bavarian pretzel with a liter stein of their beer for the win! The spatzleknodel has a weird texture.

Sauerbraten (Marinated roasted sirloin of beef , topped with sweet and sour gravy , served with mélange of vegetables and mashed potatoes )

Had the Rahm schnitzel for pre-theatre dinner . was really good and the service was nice. it's a big place with a lot of history.
Rahmschnitzel was excellent. Paired it with a stout beer (can’t remember the name). Sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive.
The street lager Aka Dortmunder is the best US made lager I have tasted in a decade. Full stop
The creamed spinach is a pretty awesome side as well as the spaetzle ! Delicious.
I had a great root beer ! Also the Ruben for lunch was amazing.
Food was great. We came here during restaurant week and managed to try 4 things on the menu. Get the liter beer
Good selection of local and imported beer . The brat and knockwurst appetizer was excellent.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch ! Service was prompt and friendly . We highly recommend Berghoff’s!
Get the liter beer . We tried the 4 course meal during restaurant week and it made us want to come back!
Draft root beer also comes in diet! German food can’t be beat
Dark beer + sausage trio = amazing dinner . And the sauerkraut was delicious!
My mom used to tell stories about when she would go here with her father and grandfather so I took her here for lunch recently. She said it made her sad to see what it has become and that it's ruined.
Beer flights available. Recommend one with the pretzel if you're just in to grab a quick bite and a brew.
First visited in early 60"s when had all male wait staff . Great German pub and Restaurant with traditional German dishes.
The Rahm Schnitzel was perfect for lunch . Very tasty, not over cooked and a good portion.
Ask for the off the menu Berghoff dark ale . It's 10% alcohol , the strongest beer they have on tap .
There are some good vegetarian options but he stuffed mushrooms are pretty good!

Unique atmosphere, everything on the menu is good! Looking for a salad with flavor? Cajun chicken salad is great!
I'm sure you've heard this before, but you HAVE to get the pot roast . Best ever. And wash it down with their root beer . Mmmmmm.
The lamb chops were delicious. The beer flight was good as well . The dark beer was my favorite.
The lower level sandwich bar serves awesome bratwursts ! Don't forget the sauerkraut !!!
Beer ! Try the pierogies and plank salmon .
This is a Chicago landmark . The Berghoff is housed in one of the first buildings built in the Loop after the Chicago Fire.
Classic German fare. The schnitzel combo platter a must
Amazing Gluten-free options here. Everything that is available is clearly marked
Corned beef Ruben , house chips , and a dunkle. Can't go wrong.
Good food, but the homemade beer is where this place stands out. Plus, Berghoff has immense historical value.
Great root beer , great value , nice but a little slow service. Will come back again!
The food was good. Not authentic but good. The beer was okay. The history and restaurant itself are pretty amazing. Our waitress was borderline rude when I asked about the foursquare special.
The perogie appetizer is excellent and goes well with the free root beer you get for checking in.
Try the Berghoff cafe in the basement open weekdays for lunch . Cheap and quick options.
Great root beer , reasonable lunch specials with a whole lot of flavor.
The beer is ok, nothing amazing. Chicken wings were bad, they should be crispy not soft, but the sauce was great. And the mini pretzels tasted previously frozen. - Becky P
Had dinner with friends there. The food was amazing! Will be coming back! - Capitan Danyo
Gorgeous historic hotel in downtown Chicago. Easy walking access to the lake! - Beau Lebens
