Beautiful hotel and it's a Hilton! Definitely take the opportunity to have cocktail hour in the lobby when they have live music . This place makes you feel so ritzy! I loved staying here! Coming back
From my experience, definitely upgrade to an executive suite if available. The lobby is enchanting with an excellent bar . Starbucks is conveniently located below the lobby. Enjoyed my stay!
Did you know that the invented the Brownie here? Really nice lounge area to be with friends and family, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and share a brownie with vanilla ice cream :)
If you must shop in the Loop, this is your hidden oasis . Skip the lobby bar and head back to Potter's. They mix the Manhattans strong (but balanced) so plan on calling for a ride afterwards.
Palmer House Hotel was rebuilt in the mid-1920's but previously was built in the early 1870's making it one of longest continuously operating hotels in the U.S. A lot of famous people have stayed here
A great, historic hotel . The lobby is fantastically opulent. The front desk staff is kind of snooty, but the breakfast restaurant and staff are great. Smaller rooms and tiny bathrooms .
The atrium in this place is just WOW! So beautiful. Rooms are well equipped and modern. Staff as always at a Hilton property were helpful and friendly . Good location.
Enjoy the history here. From Al Capone’s card game room with secrete door that leads to the street to artifacts from after the Civil War used for “The Most Elegant Dinner Party” in American history.
Wow, such a elegant hotel . If you are Hilton member, you can use free Wi-Fi at your room. In other case it works only in lobby
Beautiful hotel with incredible history (first hotel with electricity and telephones, first hotel in Chicago with elevators ). Lobby bar is pricey but a cocktail there is a must.
After my ghost encounter at this hotel at around 3am and reported it to the concierge , I found out that there have been reports of sightings and paranormal activity here. Check out the 13th Floor!
Greatest staff Ever! Thoughtful, considerate and always polite! 2nd best item is the architecture and I love the 100 year old photos on the walls!
The business center is on 7th floor. When exiting the 8 bank turn left to the column with the fire hose. Walk around it and you'll see a glass door. That's it! Have safe trip home.
This hotel is an AT&T wifi hotspot. Log in using your AT&T/Uverse account login and connect for free. Also, Hilton Honors gets you fitness center access and late checkout (up to 1:30 pm) free.
Stunning architecture ... but they’re banking on that. Everything else is half-assed. “20% convenience fee” quietly added to snacks you pay for upon touch, leftover painters tape, no special requests.
Ask about room size / local. I can brush my teeth at the sink and flush the toilet while standing in the shower . If I wanted NYC rooms, I'd be in NYC. Plus the bldg configuration = v. dark rooms
free wifi in the lobby or starbucks. or $6.95 for 1 hr, $12.95 for 24. the business suite was as big as my master bedroom closet. it felt weird. love that millenium park is just blocks away!!
Historic, great architecture . Proms, weddings, you name it, it goes on here. Grab one of their many great drinks in the lounge around the Lockwood Restaurant . Get the Bertha cocktail .
fitness fees are waived for everyone now except classes . If you need to park , Public parking is $30 compared with theirs at $41/night. Pool is not exciting-free breakfast on 23rd floor! Great!!
This hotel has a great Wedgewood ceiling in the lobby. It is a really lovely atmosphere if you need a break from the dinginess of the State Street shops.
The lobby was very elegant like a snapshot in time. But the rooms were very dated, thin walls, tiny bathrooms , and really I felt like I lived in a velvet Elvis painting for 3 days. Wouldn't revisit.
Freshii is right next door to Palmer. I love Freshii so this is a bonus. Also, the fitness center in the 8th floor is pretty nice. Yoga room is available.
One of my favourite hotels . Classy , great lobby area. Nice bar area. Renovated rooms , a few with lake view . But the rooms are very, very different. Be careful not to end in a cupboard like one... I wa
No matter where your evening took you, enjoy a nightcap at the Lockwood bar in the lobby. Safe travels! ~@travelblawg
Excellent service , clean and luxurious space in this historic building . I recommend cocktails in the lobby bar !
Fitness center and spa are unaffiliated with the hotel . They give 50% discount drop-in rate to guests; Hilton Honours members silver and up can use for free. Drop-in rates include classes .
The rooms are small and bathroom shower needs an upgrade. Overall the Palmer House is a Nod to old world or historical hotel feel. Booked through Expedia 159.00, awesome price on the Mile.
The bar is gorgeous and many of the halls have detailed histories going into the 19th century.
Beautiful, classic Chicago hotel . The lobby is amazing! Feels like you have stepped back to the 1920's
While the ballroom itself is beautiful, it's most interesting feature is what's hidden behind the mirrored wall in its corner. Read more
Lovely older hotel . Rooms are a little small, but are cozy . Book on a higher floor to avoid the street and L sounds
Gorgeous historic hotel in downtown Chicago. Easy walking access to the lake !
Make sure to download the Hilton app and check in on your phone before hand or else the digital key won’t work.
This historic hotel is my favorite place to stay in Chicago. Very clean , lots of amenities , great location, and the staff is very helpful.
Palmer House is trading on its reputation. Public spaces are still incredible, but the rooms have really gone downhill.
Est. 1871. Invented brownies in 1893 for the Columbian Exposition World’s Fair .
My room was a king on the 23rd floor (executive level ) and it was great. Plenty of space and beautiful. We even had two bathrooms which was nice. This hotel is in a perfect location.
The rooms are a bit small, but nice. Excellent concierge service. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Yes, check out the ornate lobby! Not so much a fan of the Bloody Mary or croissant tots.
Potter’s is not as pretty as the lobby lounge , but it’s a lot more chill and a nice place to relax .
No wifi in room. Solution: call verizon & enable hotspot tethering on iPhone 4 for a mere xtra $20/mo, then disable that service after ur trip. You can now use ur tablet on wifi . Works great!
Really pretty hotel , as long as you don’t mind the mild sound travel between rooms
No mini-bars, no coffee machines , no bathrobes, no fridges & last call at the bar was 12:30... Yet, I had an AMAZING room, the location is great & I really enjoyed my stay for so many reasons!
Very convenient location for all popular sightseeing, great eating and shopping places. Old hotel but classy and beautiful.
Everything about this hotel ... Absolutely breathtaking, classy and so much history. A+++
Classic hotel . Great staff and right in the heart of the loop!
Classic hotel . One of my favorites. Enjoy a drink in the lobby bar .

Complimentary snacks & non-alcoholic beverages. Hot breakfast in the morning is a must. We didn't use the bartender service but the staff is very very friendly! - Chris Hanken
Really nice renovated rooms. Very comfortable beds. The restaurant has excellent Spanish food and wine though interior could use a refresh. - Brian Strauss
Great location for exploring both the Loop and Near North. Hotel is showing its age, but it's still comfortable and quiet. Loved the lake view room. - Rick Lindemann
