Truly A-list museum . Very easy to combine with flying from Dulles. I saw plane I was on later in the day land from the observation tower! Must sees are Blackbird , space shuttle Discovery , Enola Gay ...
In addition to the Boeing Aviation Hangar with historic aircraft of all types, you can also see spaceships and rockets, including the Space Shuttle Discovery . Don't miss the SR-71, either.
Why you're here: SR-71 Blackbird & Space Shuttle Discovery . These titans are in line with the entrance so you'll find them first. Stick around and the other, less famous craft will reward you as well .
The observation tower is a little more hype than delivery . Definitely check out the Nazi aircrafts and some of their lack of landing gear. ????
This is one of the best museums if you're into aviation. Strap in tight for the dogfight sim! Huge IMAX 3d with awesome movies . And of course the Enola Gay , Discovery, SR71, Tomcat, Concorde.
İn here you just wanna be an astronot when you see the world from space in simulator .. boing aviation centre has also lots of type planes in there.. ????
Loved this place! Really glad we managed to get to it in addition to the Air and Space Museum . SR-71 was the highlight for me but so much history around, it's really hard to pick a favourite.
Plan to see a movie in the 6-story IMAX theater...you wont regret it. See the Discovery Space Shuttle up close and learn about aviation and space history! Don't forget the museum store on your way out
Forget all the other Smithsonians, this one is the bomb. *Hangars* full of awesome aerospace history, including a retired space shuttle! (Also: largest IMAX screen in Virginia was great for Star Wars)
If your staying down town head over to L'Enfant Plaza & take the 5A to Dulles for $6.00 each way. Get in the Dulles 2 Dulles connector for $1.00. Worth the $7.00 to see the vast collection of planes .
To find all this history under one roof is literally hard to conceive. Our world today has been dictated in no small part by these very aircraft (and now, spacecraft!) in this single location.
Always amazes me. This is my 2nd visit. Not crowded . The guides are very knowledgeable . You will definitely learn something for the day be it on American history or aviation.
This is hands down one of the very best museums in the country . The sheer size and scope of the exhibits is amazing. Great for kids, aside from McDonald's being the only food choice...
180+ airplane collection including a SR-71, Concorde, 707, homebuilts, commercial, and military aircrafts, as well as the Discovery Shuttle. It's quite amazing! Only food option is McDonalds.
Fabulous museum ! View of the flights coming into IAD is gorgeous in the fall from the observation deck..you can also listen to ATC, gift shop has great aviation memorabilia including Pan Am bags!
Be sure to dedicate a few hours to see as much as you can. It is packed with planes and crafts, but takes a good bit of time to see everything.
Went to watch Jurassic World in IMAX but before the movie toured around the museum . It's so cool to see all the planes and space craft they have on display.. And it's FREE!
No better place than this museum to see the Space Shuttle Discovery and other amazing aircrafts like the famous Skunkworks Blackbird SR-71
Have enjoyed visiting the Virginia annex of the air and space museum . Staff are very friendly and informative By The Way.
Awesome museum right near Dulles. Every plane you can think of and a real space shuttle on top of that! A must for aviation enthusiasts of all ages!
Very cool museum and knowledge & friendly staff . But McDonald's? As an educational institution geared towards children, I find this incredibly irresponsible. Especially as no outside food is allowed
Amazing place! Be sure not to miss Korean&Vietnam and Cold War exhibit and also the Space Shuttle Discovery !
Definitely a great museum to see. Plenty to learn and see. Museum is free, only had to pay for parking . But definitely worth the trip. It has items that don't fit in the DC museum .
Great museum to visit, close to Dulles airport . Space shuttle Discovery , SR-71, Enola Gay , etc. Shuttle to/from IAD airport (door 2E) every 45 min. $2 RT fare. They even have lockers for your luggage.
Largely a great museum . The huge exception is the Enola Gay exhibit , the plane used to drop the A bomb, which still refuses to discuss whether it was right to do so. Go after 4PM for free parking .
Udvar-Hazy has one of the largest collections of aviation and space artifacts in the world. Don't miss the Space Shuttle Discovery , SR-71 Blackbird , flight simulators, guided tours , & the IMAX movies !
Highlights include the Discovery space shuttle and the observation tower with views to the Blueridge Mountains , Sugarloaf Mountain , and planes landing and taking off in Dulles airport .
This is a great venue for aviation lovers and aircraft junkies. Aircraft of all types and several in the history books are found here. This is a well designed and well stocked museum .
An extension of the National Air and Space Museum , drive here for fewer crowds and an impressive display of aviation and space artifacts , including the space shuttle Discovery .
The layout of all the planes was super cool. The Discovery and Blackbird : super duper cool. Spent about 4 hr here including a 45 min IMAX film .
The shuttle Discovery, SR-71 Blackbird , and much of flight history. I can't believe it took so long to learn about this place. Only downside is $15/car parking . They always need volunteers, though!
If crunched for time, skip the observation deck and go marvel at all the planes and, of course, the shuttle. Staff is knowledgable and friendly ! They helped me locate my Uncle's plane .
See the Space Shuttle Discovery (OV-103), Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird , Concorde, and Boeing B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay ." Visit the Observation Tower to do some plane spotting! Read more
Better than the downtown museum if you all me. Not crowded lots of parking ($15). Digital IMAX Theater . Space shuttle very cool. Observation deck where you can watch Dulles Airport traffic.
In the back of the hangar you can watch the restoration work in progress. Definitely plan on spending a few hours here.
Amazing ! Free admission Shake Shack and $15 to park .
Far outside the city , but a great museum (and in my opinion way better than the Air & Space Museum on the Mall ). Worth a visit if you can make it there!
This is one of the best museums , I've been to. Plenty of exhibits , and all tastefully arranged, and well themed. This is a must visit.
Time to kill at Dulles? See the Shuttle Discovery, the SR-71 Blackbird , and the Enola Gay . Best of all, there's quarter lockers for your carry-on bags
This is the companion museum to the National Air and Space Museum on the Mall . Come here to see the space shuttle Discovery and the Enola Gay
Try our new alternate reality game, TechQuest! Every weekend 10:30 am to 4:30 pm in the Claude Moore Education Center. Read more
Come here early to get your IMAX tickets and get good lighting for photos. Also, Dulles airport is nearby so it's a good place to plane spot as well .
The planes are incredible! My favorite was getting to see Space Shuttle Discovery !
The Space Shuttle and the Blackbird SR-71 (the X-Men’s jet)…what’s not to love.
Its a huge hangar with a lot of air and space history. Very impressive. Enola Gay and the Discovery shuttle are the best pieces
Great museum , Space Shuttle, SR-71, lots of WWII planes . Great gift shop . Definitely a must do!
The National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center became the new home for Space Shuttle Discovery , which retired after completing its 39th mission in March 2011. Read more
Free guided tours throughout the day! Totally worth visiting!
The most awesome display of over 1400 historical aircraft & artifacts : Discovery space shuttle, & Enola Gay !
Check out the great collection of aerospace cameras and catch a film in the IMAX theater . Awesome trip for camera buffs. Oh, and an incredible collection airplanes as well . Read more
Must see this Museum. Staff here are very welcoming and very humble including the security personnels. Would recommend anybody to come and see how well the planes and shuttle have been looked after. - Rupesh Acharya
Don't miss seeing a first-run film here. The picture and sound will blow your mind (and ears) but in a good way. They sell popcorn, candy and bottled drinks. Have fun! - Leonda Levchuk
You can see for miles and miles from the observation deck. Viewing the sunset is a colorful treat. Skip the control room. - Matt Small
