Love just hanging out and watching the sea lions just lay around while others bicker at each other. Also I got to see a seagull playing with a tennis ball! It was so much fun
Great experience to see so many sea lions together ( as many as 1701 in 2009) come here very early in the morning not to be interrupted by tourists .
Many souvenir shops, restaurants and my personal highlight the sea lions. The pier visit is a must for San Francisco and belongs to the city as well as the famous red steel colossus.
This was the best part of Fisherman's Wharf. They have a sea lion center where you can see Sea Lions sunning and learn about them.
Don't forget to visit this place, it feels great to be close to these beautiful animals without invading their space. And you get to take cool pictures ☺️
They don't smell the best but go during the week and off season for tourists . They're super cute and sometimes a little loud . Can be crowded but worth it!
It’s just great. Don’t miss it and it’s free. They’re just o the deck there so you can see them interacting, making sounds and flapping back into the sea and shuffle - wobble on their tail.Fascinating
Great experience, even on September which is not a good time to see the lions, we could see a couple of them just relaxing! Amazing if you have never seen one before.
You mustn't visit San Francisco and not visit the sea lions. They've been there for decades and they're fun to watch especially if you live somewhere where you don't see them everyday.
For a short trip to San Fran, the hubby and I are very happy to have seen the sea lions on the pier . Such a lovely, unique, and memorable thing to do. Here in NYC all I see are floating trash bags! =P
No one really knows why they come here, but here they are. You can tell sea lions from seals as the first have small ear flaps while the latter only holes. Look at them carefully!
So awesome to see! You get to see how they interact with each other and they're funny and amazing to watch!
Go and see some sea lions from close-up. Have your camera at the ready to make some beautiful snapshots. And be amazed at the sounds (and the occasional smelly burps) these animals make!
When at Pier 39, you have to visit the Sea Lions. Whether they're sleeping, fighting, or just barking, it's entertaining. http://sf.travelivery.com
Life haven't prepared you for this. Sea lions, tons of sea lions, they are every, they are sleeping, the are fighting, they are roaring. They. Are. Cute .
Amazing place with so many views and sea lions!! Aaaaah so many and singing too????
The sea lions are so incredible to watch. There are so many of them. Do not feed them!
Sea lions (left) are brown, bark loudly , "walk" on land using their large flippers and have visible ear flaps. Seals have small flippers, wriggle on their bellies on land, and lack visible ear flaps.
Some of my favorite animals, the sea lions are so adorable! They are free and they're given food as well
Good for children to view sea lions. There's a huge crowd of sea lions here!
Gotta check out the sea lions, make sure you go when it's the season that they are in the bay . There weren't many in the end of July
So fun to watch! They're so playful. Definitely worth a visit
Lovely spot at the sunset to spend. We only saw 2 of the sea lions :) but it was fun
SOOOO CUTEEEE come at sunset and here there are all of the sea lions taking the sun and sleeping :3
Fantastic entertainment. Kids loved it, so did we. And they're free;-)
Its full of sea lions during the day. At night they swim to Alcatraz Island . So try to go in the morning.
They're so cute , you'll want to take one home...but you're better off with a normal, non-fishy dog.
There's also a sea lions center if you get on the second floor
A must see, fascinating to see them all laying and playing on the floating docks.
The sea lions are there 24/7 so it doesn't matter what time you visit them ????
Love the seals but make sure and check out the locks too!
Neat little place that provides information on the sea lions that are seen in the area.
Sea lions are cool! Food is nice, one word: sourdough
Take the family to see these active & very entertaining creatures (plus it's free)
The Sea Lions have apparently been in this area since 1989 earthquake.
I love it! The sea lions are so close! They play fight!
I love the sea lions of Pier 39. They are so fun to watch.
Headed to Napa? Be sure to visit Reata Wines at Jamieson Ranch Vineyards . Amazing Wine . Top notch hospitality .
Walk the wharf. Giradelli square, bread at Boudins and sea lions. Nice day.
Try the viewing point upstairs
Watch the seals from the opposite side. Way better view and almost no people. You can see the seals play at multiple locations.
Sooooo good to see this. Spend some time watching these animals, you won't regret
Nice place to see the sea lions ????
Really stinky but worth the show. Like a soap opera of animals.
These guys are really fun to watch!
If you can, go to the Wharf on a weekday. Such a lovely place when not swarming with people.
To get the best experience - skip the "tourist trap" and follow the seafront rather than going through the pier .
Come at day! You won't see much at night! But you will hear them.
The Sea Lions sun themselves all day! Take a camera & rest awhile!
Better than zoo . They're free.
Good service! The 3 cheese burger was delish! Add bacon ftw. - Sean Miller
They made me an awesome (custom) vegan order, skewered veggies on rice with chimichurri sauce - delicious! - Justin Knysz
Very good fried shrimp, crab cakes, and awesome clam chowder. Ask for Mel to be your waiter - excellent service! - Jacob Guerra
It was a nice surprise to find them in Golden Gate Park. It's a large fence around them so when they're far back you can't see them as much. But super cute! - Shawna Marie
The inside (behind the scenes) of the Lion House is open daily 1pm-4pm. Lion, Tiger, Snow Leopard, and Fishing Cat exhibits can be found along the exterior of the building. - San Francisco Zoo
Clam chowder is top notch! Love the sourdough bread and the live tourist action - Barney Santos
Super lively! Obviously there are sweet shops and ice cream on every corner but the views are great too. - Joseph Le
Such a fun, unique SF experience. So many great machines, but the Addams Family game made me smile a lot. - Jenny Mackintosh
