Can't explain how or why, but The Outsider has the best bread I've ever tasted. Meal could have ended right there and it'd have still been perfect.
Well not bad! Loved the antique Picquot Ware teapots ???? Steak ciabatta was very good. Gives the feel of quality but in a very reasonable price.
Everything honestly. We all had the hanger steak . It was so tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. We also had one of each pudding and they were fantastic too. Excellent service and friendly staff .
Good bread and olives to start. The veal was cooked well , though I wasn't convinced by the pairing with orange jus barley. Very atmospheric, if a little on the dark side!
The hake was delicious! The chicken and prawns was very tasty as well but I would prefer more prawns inside. It is a great restaurant with beautiful view of Edinburgh castle ! Definitely recommended!
Amazing lunch deals , food is fantastic! Liked everything we tried, and it quickly became our favorite place for weekend brunch
The in-house soup with bread is a delight. The sweet potato fries with chive is a good side to peg on. Try to book in advance if you'd like it to walk in like you own the place ;)
My mussels were served in a huge plate, and are definitely a must if you like mussels . Switch to garlic fries , and try out the pigeon breast as a starter. Espresso martini for the finish :)
Really great value , stylish place for lunch . Delicious moules et frites and burgers with super friendly and helpful staff made it a good choice for our family.
Nice atmosphere, the food is really good and the price honest. Friendly staff , but on the weekend you have to wait a bit before getting your meal.
Steamed mussels with garlicky fries ulala! Great service and that view ! Bit pricy but you'll survive, plus guys will give you great tips where to go after for drinks!!!
This place really lived up to the expectations. Service was good but the food was outstanding. We tried the seabass and the mussels . I wish I could come here more often.
Try the mussels ! Very cosy spot & well experimented food
During my stay in Edinburgh, this was absolutely the best meal that I had. Roasted Venison Haunch was incredible. As was the bread . :)
Romantic date spot with a solid lunch menu . Very well prepared food in an upscale atmosphere with a pub price tag.
Booked 20 minutes before arriving for lunch . Fantastic venison and steak . All very reasonably priced.
Mussels + wine goooooood! - probably nice view if u book ahead and ask for next to window. 2nd time I was here I got the pork belly + scallops . There were only 2 scallops - avoid!
If you are close to old town and want to stay away from tourist trap places, this is a great place for lunch . Plenty of food options .friendly staff .
Great place. Modern. Minimalist. Affordable. Central. Elegant. Good food.
I love this place. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids. They are always lovely to us, food is always delicious and good service .
Good service , nice food, excellent value for money at lunchtime. The exterior is plain black and the sign is hard to spot.
We need more basil mussels in this world.
The beef & chilli burger is simply fantastic. Best burger I've had, in a restaurant . And at £7.50 with chips and delicious garlic mayo , I've paid a lot more for lesser efforts.
One or two vegan options but very yummy, thoughtful staff and pretty views of the castle out the window
Excellent food! The value on the lunch menu is fantastic! Service is always a bit slow though
Great dish of the Day ! Big portions and very good taste!
Lovely interior. Warm service . Imaginative menu. Honest food. I'm a fan.
So loud , there is smth wrong with the acoustics of this place. Service was nice, but i felt so sorry for the man who runs downstairs to upstairs to carry the guests’ coats all evening, so meaningless.
Very nice scenic view and delicious food. Go for lunch time to enjoy a 50% discount !
Great take on traditional. Well worth the money
Nice English indie restaurant . Equally good fish and meat options. Their ox cheeks dish rocks.
Amazing atmosphere and views . Not always the most consistent food but usually very nice. Get the prawn and salmon chilli skewers to start.
The best bread in the city ! Very nice service and food! Highly recommended!
Amazing restaurant with beautiful interior :) food is very delicious !
Super tasty food with nice staff and great view !
Great food an staff . Low prices. Have some amazing whiskey and sea food .
Great Steak ! One of the best I had.
Very nice place! Try the mussels !!
Try to get a table by the window! It's better to make a reservation . Very good service !
Lovely and very affordable lunch menu - the mussels were fantastic
Had really good vegetarian food at lunch .
Ask for castle view seat, and enjoy the great wine list .
The lamb meatballs are amazing and the CHL plates although virtuous are filling and delicious.
The interior will make you vomit. But that add some space in your stomach for the delicious food served in this venue.
Exquisite food, exceptional service and glorious views . You have to go here!
I have been here many times; in a big group and for a romantic meal. I've always had a great meal here and love the atmosphere.
The green olive oil and artisan bread is worth it alone
Great food, poor service. Staff nice enough but our mains were brought out before we'd even finished our starter and drinks ordered with our main didn't come out until after we'd finished our main.
Lovely view , friendly service and a damn fine steak sandwich at Lunchtime!
Lovely place, great staff , buff food.
Love this place! Food amazing, coffee great and staff are awesome! Def recommend! - Diane Rennie
Lovely atmosphere and highly recommend the duck salad, sounds a little dull but it is delicious!! Along with an Espresso Martini where you can add essence of hot cross bun. - Ian Jones
Good food and great service. Bottomless soft drinks (pepsi and lemonade) perfect for thirsty teenagers!! - Julie Millar
Great views, good layout, great display of the history and culture, I liked exploring - Candice Rivera
Kid friendly fantastic museum. One of the must see in Edinburgh! - Züleyha A
A fave! Nightly folk music @ 21:30, good selection, super lovely staff, friendly locals, good wifi. Had a blast, will definitely be back! - Danielle Boudreau
