A must when you're in Edinburgh! Free entrance. It's great for kids of all ages, lots of interactive pieces plus the big kids' room on the first floor next to the escalators. Very nicely designed❤
Free museum ! You simply must visit the rooftop garden for spectacular views across the city . Wide ranging exhibits , though not the most engaging a good effort made for the kids with games & puzzles.
It's a fun place to go and peruse. However, when I went the were rebuilding some of the sections, so it didn't take that long to get through everything, about 2 hours. It's a great place to bring kids
I wasn’t expecting to see such a fun national museum . It is obvious that they worked extremely hard to create the concepts and every piece in them is interesting. #1 in things to do in Edinburgh ????????
This is a great museum with so much to see and do for all. There is so much here you could take days to see if all. Very interesting displays here. Well worth a visit. Displays from all over world.
So much to see here, couldn’t finish in a day! Don’t miss the Millennium Clock, it chimes on the hour from 10:00-16:00. What a fun 4 minute long display of mechanical wonder!
Free museum in Edinburgh. It has interactive activities as well as history. Give yourself lots of time because it can be overwhelming. If you don't have enough time, just do the History of Scotland .

Head to the roof terrace for excellent views across Edinburgh - the lift is horrifically slow - but it's worth it.
Take your time for this one - you can easily spend an entire day there. Make sure to head to the roof terrace and don't hesitate to press all the buttons that invite you to do exactly so.
Different cultures with attractions games (5 levels building) including animals , insects, space, fashion, Cultural Egyptian, Indian, Chinese, gana, ..etc.
Obviously, Scotland is a fantastic part of the UK! But if you really want some background information on history and how Scotland became Scotland, make a stop at this museum !
The museum is HUGE, and covers a wide expanse of history. The exhibits are interesting. My favorites are the Ancient Egypt and Art of Living. Don't miss the Lewis chess pieces!

This museum is indeed a worthwhile place to visit even during a short stay in Edinburgh. The Tower restaurant on the top floor also serves nice pre fixe lunch .

Don't expect to see everything in one visit, even in your third visit, you would still not have seen everything. Go to the roof garden - you get a stunning view of this spectacular city .

This place is huge. Would be easy to spend a full afternoon here. Grab a map because the layout is quite confusing.
Loved this place, well organized and lots of stuff to see and learn. Thought that this is even better than the national museum of London.
Free, fun and well worth going! The science and expeditions bit is closed until 2016. Everything else will keep us busy until then.

One of the best museums I've visited. Every floor features interactive exhibits . Go to the hamster wheel on the 3rd floor.

Huge museum . Rich collection. There are a a lot of things to do for children.
Don't leave it for a rainy day. So much to see and do. Buying membership worth it as paid exhibitions change several times a year.
Crowds notwithstanding, the exhibits are amazing and the building is just plain beautiful to admire.
