Commemorates the fallen from the (land) battle of North Fells Point and (naval) bombardment of Fort McHenry, which combined prevented the British from entering Baltimore.
Star-Spangled Site: This 52-foot-tall monument , the first substantial war memorial built in the U.S., was dedicated to the citizens of the city who fell during the Battle for Baltimore.
The eighteen layers of the marble base represent the eighteen states that made up the United States at the time of the war.
