Very huge square, one of the biggest in the city ! one of the main transportation hub and featuring many attractions : the Venetian towers, to the magic fountain (by evening) and the Arenas! (bullring).
Such a great square viewed from any angle (from above the hill , from a night bus , or just from the street outside the metro station ). Night view is great +go for famous magic fountain (Fri/Sat 9 pm).
Get stunning views of the Plaça d'Espanya from atop the Las Arenas mall ! Especially at night when the lights are shining into the sky from beyond Font Màgica de Montjuïc !
GO at night and experience the fountain show! Their is music and the fountain is amazing it goes with the music . You will love it! Take lots of pictures and your family!
Be sure to go up the escalators in Arena shopping center to see the breathtaking views of this part of Barcelona. See my photos to see how that looks at night. Go to the museum of modern art as well .
Beautiful place. Didn't get time to see the meuseum but visit it for the fountain . See the show in evening if you are into that kind of stuff. It's great.
Great place to walk around or just relax on the steps to people watch . Fountain shows are only shown periodically. Check online to see if there's a show while you're visiting.
We came from Placa de Catalunya once by L1 and once by L3. From Place de Espanya one can get the R5 train to get to the@Montserrat Mt and Monastery . It takes around 1hr.
Enjoy the magic fountains and show in the evenings. Or take your bicycle all the way up to the palace and the Montjuic . Have a nice downhill ride!

If you come to Barcelona for VMworld Europe, this is a good area to stay in: midpoint btwn town and conference center w/ good Metro stop. Many food options in walking distance. Watch for heavy traffic
The apartment we rented was here. Good location to start from and explore the city . The hill is also full of atractions: museums , gardens and amazing views . There's an old spanish village and castle .
Must see location with a lot of important tourist attractions and spots. Both metro lines L1 and L3 stop. Gathering point for locals.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, there is a water show, starts at 9 pm. Worth to watch.
The fountain with the towers and surrounding buildings were built for the 1929 World's Fair .

Very beautiful place, reminds me Peterhof. But don't expect much of music fountain , even Vinnitsa has more impressive one.
