Take the guided tour to learn all the fun eccentricities about the home and family, it also gains you access to the library of rare books !
This place is incredible, it's like setting foot in a castle except This castle is in Iowa. Many parts of the manor are originally from medieval and renaissance Europe and shipped over.
Be sure to see the library as many books are first edition from Dickens to Isaac Newton and many religious texts dated back centuries. Also ask your guide where the term "blackmail" came from.
Salisbury House has a rare book collection that dates back to the 1400s. To learn more about the history of the house check out this C-SPAN video. Read more
We came for an opera preview, not a tour of house. But I'd like to return. History is interesting, gardens seem inviting & there's a most unusual piano.
Take the 90 minute guided tour . Totally worthwhile.
Did you know? The house was built and furnished at a cost of $3 million in 1923. It was modeled after the King’s House in Salisbury, England.
Beautiful historic property

This place is beautiful!
This was a great place to spend a few hours on a hot and humid afternoon! So many displays and areas to see. I loved it, more people need to visit this place. - Stacy Masterson
Beautiful venue, with very helpful staff. A bit spendy but off-season options are available. - Cindy Fischer
Order the grilled portabello in lieu of meat- the veg burger was a letdown. Also, their house salad is delicious- including edamame, grilled corn and red wine vin- perfect for lunch. - Hannah Garrison
Excellent place to dine out on the deck. The view to the parking lot isn't the best, but it's pretty quiet and peaceful. Plus the service is always great. - Gaston
Gorgeous place with thoughtful exhibits and nice staff. Open late Thursday nights for a great date! - Estepha Francisque
