Don't let the exterior fool you; it may look ugly/unsafe to you from the outside, but it's got great rooms, especially the bed (if you know what I mean ;]).
Now newly renovated under Elk+Avenue Hotel . Amazing backdrop. Good affordable spot right on the Avenue.
At the price we were happy with the room and service. We didn't use the bar or restaurant as there were so many other options in the area. The room had been modernized recently.
Nothing fancy but right in the middle of downtown Banff, so the location can't be beat.
