High quality Indian food at a very reasonable price. Highlights were the dahi puri , lamb seekh kebab , goat biryani , and saag paneer . Staff is super nice and helpful!
Don’t miss: Dani batata, aloo chana chaat , saag paneer , kofta and cheese naan . Veggie Biriyani was *not* flavorful, although the naan they use to cover it’s super tasty. Wash down w/mango lassi
Tandoori Poussin is to die for! Tandoori Gobi and Dahi Puri are pretty great too. Definitely coming back.
This is insanely good food. If it’s your first time, you gotta go for the Lucknow Dum Biryani . And the naan with Amul cheese .
omg it was so good. got those yogurt filled thingies pictured and the butter & garlic naan (Julie says go butter) and the tandoor chicken and the cheesy cauliflower and the goat biryani . ALL great
Great simple Indian food - we had dahi Puri , kale pakodas , chilli paneer Tikka , Dal makhani and garlic naan and all of them were delicious.
1. this place is NO LONGER BYOB . they have beer and wine . 2. It is super duper cramped! 3. Here’s a picture of the tandoor chicken . This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City now. Cheers!
Delicious dinner . It’s not a place to linger over a meal - long lines waiting to get in. Next time I will try to land seats at the bar . My faves were the spinach , kale and eggplant dishes .
Like eating at your Masi’s house in India...if she was nice with every dish. Everything is solid and affordable . Kale pakora ????????
NYT Top New Restaurants ** (11/2018): "Chaats ; keema pao; kaleji masala ; bhatti da murgh; tandoori poussin; tandoori macchi; saag paneer ; dilliwala butter chicken ; rara gosht; Lucknow dum biryani ."
Really delicious, authentic Indian food . Some of the best we’ve had in NYC (and we’ve eaten a lot of Indian food ). Gets crowded fast- make a reservation ahead of time or you’ll be in line forever.
Tasty food but get a reservation because you will be waiting a while otherwise. The Aloo Chana Chaat is simple but also addicting. Keema Pao has some surprising kick. Tandoori meats are tender
Sit at the bar to get a chance to chat with the friendly head chef ! The goat biryani was my favorite! Also, restaurant is BYOB . No wine or beer served yet.
All the starters. Focus on those to be most impressed. By the fabulously creative approach. Pakoda, cauliflower , bhel puri all amazing.
This is best Indian food I have had in or outside India, I dread the day it becomes busy and expensive , but so good, nyc needed this, byob ! Order anything, everything.
The food is great and reasonably priced. Get the butter chicken/chicken mahkni. There weren't a lot of tables, may need to make a reservation in advance. Service still has room for improvement.
Appetizers (Indian street food ) are so good, especially the cauliflower one. For main dishes like curry and biryani , you can find better ones in other restaurants
Yea this place is special! Kale Pakoda , Dahi Batata Puri , Chicken Makhani and the Lotus Root Kofta were the favs but I want to try everything
The Lucknow Dum Biryani with slow-cooked goat was terrific! Everything here was a taste sensation.
Everything was fantastic. Goat brains was a standout. Biryani *chef ’s kiss*
Can’t stop coming here. Butter chicken is a must have, loved the Dahi Batata Puri .
Delicious food here. The lotus root kofta is good. Chili cheese naan is a must!
Great Indian food . Kale pakoras , butter chicken and paneer Tikka are great.
Whatever else you get, make sure to order the biryani and the chana chaat . The rest is up to you.
EVERYTHING IS GOOD HERE! You can’t go wrong with anything. Highly recommend dahi puri
Spoonful of spice and everything nice (especially the tune )
The food!!! One of the best Indian spots in the city
Cheese naan and goat biryani were the best we’ve had there
Samosa a good start; Mumbai lamb curry delicious. Music VERY loud
The chaat , chili paneer and 1947 lager beer .
Cool indian cantina. Good food
Bon-Appetit 2019 - Top 50 Nominee for America’s Best New Restaurants : “Powerful, purposeful, firing-on-all-cylinders Indian hits.“
Chat, purri and kale were all banging starters
Bring your own beer !! Appetizers delicious.
Dahi batata puri was yummy. Biryani was not so great.
The biryani is insanely good
Get the kale . Seriously.
Saag paneer and kale pakoda

Cheese naan. Butter chicken. Lamb Roghan Josh. Chaat. Eat it all. Staff is wonderful. - Chris Gampat
Had dosas (amazing), chaat (delicious), idli (my favorite), and spicy butter milk lassi (non my jam, but probably delicious for those who like it). - Deborah Chang
Quality South Indian Dosa's and Idli's at very low price! Tamarind rice is also very good! - It is very crowded on weekends so visit during weekdays! - Satish
Best drinking experience I've ever had in NYC. Excellent drinks, friendly bartending, and absolutely amazing bar food, courtesy of M. Wells. What more do you need?! - Brian Park
Pretty much everything I’ve missed about independent book stores, plus not cramped! - Scott of Atlanta
Great draft beers. Never a bad time. Large communal table available. Easy to spark a Congo, amazing huh? - Andres Soto
