During the week it's an after work financial district spot. Lots of suits. Doesn't detract from the beer hall seating and great selection of beers . Get a liter and be happy. Bavarian decor.
The German hofbrau, which had been in business since 1893, got a redo by the team behind Press Club. There's a lot of love for the place that goes beyond nostalgia. Read more

Great revitalized German beer haus. The sausage plate and mustards didn't disappoint! Highly recommend splitting it with a few friends.
Must try the beer flight . Worth the price and you get to taste the amazing German beers .
Take your Tuesday business meeting up a notch by going out to lunch at Schroeder's. Enjoy the iconic German beer hall 's atmosphere while grabbing potato pancakes and a light beer with your lunch . Read more
I had my first German food since my layover stop between Afghanistan and the US in Leipzig-Halle Airport , Germany and this place was excellent. The down side: get your German booze at the bar .
It is new and improved. The space looks much bigger. For dinner , wiener schnitzel was excellent! Good service , too.
Vegans can get the potato pancakes without bacon , be sure to be clear about dairy. Potato noodles can also be modified to be without eggs , the broth is onion based.
Knowledgable staff , impeccable service , and amazing food. Get the picture? Order the Vesperplatte, grab a drink to accompany, and try the soup too
This German beer hall features free appetizers , including meatballs in marinara sauce and garlic fries . Starting from Wednesday-Friday 4-6pm, there’s also $5 pints of tap beer from around the world. Read more
Food is extraprdinary, definitely not traditional, and I loved it. Good selection of excellent beer .
Fun fact, they only allowed men til the late 70s or 80s I think
Whoa. Serious remodel here. I almost didn't recognize the place. Beer is good. Old fashioneds are surprisingly good. Food is somewhat authentically German .
The remodel is amazing! I didn't even realize I was in the same place. Beer selection is still great.
Get the boot! It's a lot of beer !
Giant beers and even boots of beer . What's not to like? Food is solid too.
Order the schweinshaxe. No one does it like Schroeder's. If you call ahead, you can special order pumpernickel bread , which comes directly from Germany. Read more
That sweet, sweet schnitzel gravy ????
swap out that double serving of cabbage & kraut for a side of spatzle . also stigel gold is not a helles imho
The schnitzel here is nothing like authentic German food , but if you take the dish on its own, it was tasty. Not worth $30, but tasty. I would go here to drink and hang out, but not eat.
Wiener schnitzel was pretty good. Sliders good too.
Recently renovated- supposed to be great German food (and beer )
The Reuben is pretty good here. And Suzy is the best bartender , nice and does a good job
Great beer selection and the Schnizel al Holstein was delicious!
Great beer selection , friendly staff . The food is VERY subpar and not worth the prices they charge
Still crowded as ever. The space is quite nice after the renovation.
Schnitzel is good
Bar food and beers are way overpriced. But its easy to seat a large group and they have free hors d'oeuvres during happy hour .
Great beer prices and the Bavarian food will leave you fat and happy!
Beware, if you get a double, they charge an extra $10 for the shot and another $2 for the "added" soda .
This place is bizarrely. Bizarre. And awesome in it's own... Bizarre way.
The food is alright, but nothing special, especially for the exorbitant price. Don't try and fit 9 folks at a table for 8. It seems to bend the laws of physics (i.e., the staff isn't accommodating).
Pretty solid beer selection (any place that carries Gulden Draak is good in my book )... food is so so.
They became fancier after remodelling.
Recently renovated - supposed to be great German food
Grab a Das Boot full of some great German beer and enjoy some rather tasty German food .
Try the smothered tots !!
Schroeder’s offers 42nd Street Moon patrons a 10% discount with your pre-or post performance dinner .
Been super crowded since remodel but looks very nice.
Founded in 1893, Schroeder's moved to this location in 1959 - but women weren't allowed for lunch until 1970.
Make sure you try the Large Boot of beer ! Just don't drive home after you drink it!
This used to be a funky old German restaurant with so-so food. Now it's a hipster 's take on a funky German restaurant with okay food at a higher price.
Order the potato pancakes
fun place for happy hours !
Sausage platter and beer !!
Must get tater tots !
One of my favorite bars in SF! :-)
Try the latkas!
Great bar food!
The quality of food and the prices are fantastic. Make sure to order the pretzels with cheese. - AFAR Media
Great beers and food! Our waiter was friendly and helpful in finding a beer that suited my taste. The food was as creative as German food can actually get ???? views are beautiful as well! - Aysu Ozgur
Nice place, family run with great beers. My favorite go to is the Spaten Octoberfest. Food is not bad, though don't expect any Michelin stars. - Rafael
AWESOME beers on tap. Tons of local breweries and microbrews. My favorite place in the city to grab a beer after work - Laura Moir
The chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks are my fave for big groups. Happy hour specials are awesome, and drinks post-happy hour won't break the bank! - Jennifer Usher
Had a great evening with a co-worker friend. Comedians were great! Food could use some work though. - Gordon Corey
