The 'new' soupwich is the bomb - soup of the day served with a toastie . It's sometimes hard to find a comfortable café for one, but this place accommodates lone diners and readers very well .

Jessie S

Lovely welcoming staff . Great long black. Good selection of newspapers for some reading, and a cozy warming atmosphere. Perfect cafe !

Tomfoolery

Sure the service isn't great, but the food and ambiance is superb. Get a bruschetta (try to prosciutto + feta ) and a coffee , read the paper, it's all good

Christine B

good coffee and had my first taste of crumpets with ricotta and honey ! good service too and great casual ambience :)

Savindi Wijeratne

Great spot to have a coffee and break, but not the best value: one piece of pumpkin bruschetta , one cheese and tomato baguette , 3 chais and one coffee = $40!

Jonathan Steffanoni

Roma beans means bold espresso . It’s the kind of place to sit longer than you should...

Stephen @Huxley Johnson

Best poached eggs with mushrooms and avocado . Ever. I mean, practically inhaled!

Lucas Ross

The front door slides ???????? (learned the hard way)

Michelle

One of Melbourne's best and most charming cafes and lunch spots .

Colin Sng

Cozy and unassuming. Fantastic eggs done in any style you would like.

Appie Tiffie

Avocado toast is not bad. ( simple dish) Just on a slightly pricey end.

Pedro Merces

Open kitchen with a menu that changes daily but never disappoints.

Ken Yip

right next door to city library and interesting layout and environment

Deborah Turnbull

Have the avocado on toast...light & delish! Recommend with a cute raven-haired man as a side dish :D

Crystal Heart

I am told this is one of the best cafes in Melbourne . I must come for a cup next time I'm down under.

Joao Ferreira

Great ambiance and coffee , but service could definitely be improved

Matt Freedman

The coffee is the best I've tried in Melbourne and that's saying something. No egg breakfasts though.

Sadaf Haghiri

Good coffee and perfect for working

Hannah Elliott

Great coffee , fast service

Jacqueline Dee

If you swing that way, try the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice !

Nicole Bradshaw

Amazingly yummy bruschetta ! I recommend the Avocado & Lemon . Their Chai is pretty damn fine as well !

Fran K. Einsteined

I ravvvv this place. Funky ;) & the sticky date is worth the numerous visits !!! 

Melbournewritersfestival

Three course degustation of Rosa Mitchell's sumptuous Sicilian fare, and Barry Dickins for company. MasterChef may have finished, but we're just beginning.

David Johnson

My new fave coffee hang. Great atmosphere, good coffee

Claire Critcher

Nice atmosphere but the menu is pretty limited as far as breakfast options go. I had vegemite on toast and the coffee was good but a large coffee is small

Sho' Nuff

Buy a $2.50 piece of toast or a bottle of water and you've paid the annual rent on the premises for them :-)

Kelpen Hagen

My fave place in Melbourne for a coffee - great avo & lemon bruschetta & LOVE the white bean and tuna salad .

Jo A.Z.M

My choc croissant came on a warm plate. That sums it up.

Sam

Try the meal of the day. Always delicious.

Reema Dsouza

Chai et bruschetta

Kim Barry

Atmosphere & chai .

Víctor Ortega

Suckling Pig Lasagne - recommended by The Age Melbourne Mag

Pedro Merces

Simple, easy and a great space to read the newspaper .

Chloe P

Avocado and lemon on sourdough only $6.50 - cheaper than Mr Tulks and tastier

Alex Horner

Daily changing menu

Víctor Ortega

Their Long Macciato is simply sublime, one of the best cafés in Melbourne .

Krijn Haasnoot

Great coffee

Ash Herring

Good coffee and library style benches make for good magazine, newspaper reading or flipping open the laptop.

Arnab Mandal

Great cheese omelette

Sarah Mason

Soy chai lattes are generally good.

Samuel Fawcett

Toasted Sando

Dan

The coffee is quite weak and too watery for a latte ...

Myles Eftos

Pretty expensive for a small plate of pasta . The food was good but not spectacular

Tim Martin

Some of the best coffee in town made by Jon's loving hands.

Triin L

Very good macchiato

Alex Avery

Tsing Tao long necks for $10.50 are a great way to cap off a day in town .

Sho' Nuff

If you like your coffee served hot remind them when placing your order... once... twice... maybe even three times.

Michelle

Not sure what happened but the coffee is awful and food was average.

Mikey Mike

Ask not to have the paper placed under the food! Why do cafe 's insist on this???? YUK

Chloe P

Delicious spy chai lattes
