If you’re here on a date and can swing it, get the chef’s sushi tasting menu . Good way to get to try everything this wonderful restaurant has to offer, and really expand your palette.
Sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs do their deft blade work on hulking slabs of fish , making edible art with Zen-like calm , provides some insight into what makes Sushi Taro special.
Get to the bar before 7. Happy hour = half off all drinks, sake carafes , and sushi . Everything is fresh and cared for.
No wonder this resto has a Michelin star . It was a wonderful experience start to finish. If you like sushi , you have to visit. Fisherman miso is a hit
Best happy hour in DC! Get the salmon , eel , and fatty tuna roll with scallion . Rainbow roll , shrimp tempura are a close second. Yellowtail was a nice addition. Spicy tuna roll was only okay.
Great service. Delicious food. Visited during restaurant week and loved it. Green Tea ice cream is not too sweet, just right. Also, sake pairings are tasty and strong!
The rainbow roll and mackerel nigiri tastes so fresh and flavorful. Excellent bar seats with great view of 17th st. For a moment you forget you are in DC.
Easily the best sushi in town . It's pricey , but it's also a really solid experience. They also have great lunch specials -- bowls of ramen and so on. Can't go wrong here.
Belly up to the bar between 5:30 and 7pm for half-price sushi , wine and beer . Via City Eats.com Read more
New Zealand king salmon was surprisingly better than the fatty toro . BBQ eel and yellowtail is always good. Sake cod was fine and prawn and veggie tempura were fine. Skip the mushroom diva mushy.
Several delicious uni options: Maine & Cali uni sashimi , uni & tofu dish , uni tempura . Intimate ambiance, great service, love it.
Housemade udon noodles and salmon belly on rice are great deals here! Sushi is fresh and high-quality. My favorite sushi restaurant in the DC area so far!
Great service and the food was fantastic. Definitely get the tempura ! The green tea cake was heaven!
Sushi omakase offers good sample of the available fish . Yellowtail and tuna are the standouts on the platter. Miso soup is rather unusual. Labeled as Fisherman's Miso , it includes a fish head. Beware.
I love sushi . This is the first sushi place I've been to in some time where I saw things I didn't recognize on the menu. They have everything, and it's all mouth-watering! The prevalence of native Read more
The omakase sashimi was really good. Generous cut of sashimi and really fresh too.
Undoubtedly the BEST authentic Japanese food in town . Presentation is stunning and food is immpecable. If its good enough for the Japanese Embassy.. it's definitely worth the price for the experience.
Very authentic , the Pokémon and the wild shrimp maki were excellent
Excellent sushi and sashimi . The food lives up to the reputation. Highly recommended if you take your sushi seriously.
Really great lunch deals . The best authentic and fresh Nigiri Sushi ever in this town .
Came here for restaurant week lunch . The fish was very fresh and everything was delicious.
Fish quality was great, and the seasoning was superb. The spicy tuna in the rainbow roll was my least favorite one.
Natto. Exquisite. This is one of three of the best reasonably priced sushi places in the DC area
Traditional Kaiseki and Sushi tasting menus are amazing. It's a bit pricey but it's an authentic , delicious experience. Wonderful service. You get what you pay for.
Great happy hour (ends at 7). Half off some rolls, beers , wines , sake , etc. Expensive place, affordable HH
Absolutely fresh and delicious sushi .. Try the rainbow roll and the fun tempura roll .. Happy hour 50% off between 5-7 pm
Come early to stake out a seat for happy hour at this excellent 11-seat sushi bar .
Very good sushi , the best I have tasted in D.C so far :)
Amazing food, super attentive staff ... Orgi is an excellent service staff !! Best Japanese I've had yet in dc.
The incredible freshness of the fish makes all the difference
Visited for a lunch . Good quality fish , everythings is nice, but do not expect smth special. Probably they rock for a dinner . Matcha dessert was disappointing.
Bento lunches are balanced, filling, and delicious!
Great lunch specials (bento box is my go to). Pretty expensive for dinner
A great deal if you go during DC Restaurant Week !
*** stars in Tom Sietsema's Fall Dining Guide 2011. (Tom recommends the wild yellowtail , sweet shrimp , uni or panko-crusted chicken .) http://wapo.st/rd9N3J
Best lunch special in Dupont. Slow service. Lunch bento box with fried chicken or eel was awesome. Too bad only open on weekdays for lunch .
Get the Sushi tasting menu ... amazing experience and totally worth it! Do it through village vines and get 30% off! Also a free bottle of saki on Tuesdays!
Splurge for fatty tuna . Grilled eel no better than cheaper eel . Eel tempura and avocado is excellent. Yellowtail only okay - nothing special. Spicy tuna is very nice but not a must.
Awesome during restaurant week ! Be prepared for a 4 course meal
This is quality sushi with lots of special fish . They didn't have my Uni sushi barameter
Best sushi experience in DC. Try the sea cucumber .
The omakase counter is an amazing experience. Highly recommend.
Fatty tuna is worth every penny. Skip croquettes , wagyu , and shrimp . Salmon and yellowtail only ok.
If the set dinner is too rich for your blood, try their amazing lunch specials .
The sushi was quite tasty here! You MUST try the braised pork belly ! It's to die for!
Try the Yuzu Sour. So refreshing! Also, lunch here is the best value in town .
Happy hour with half price sushi and drinks from 5:30 until 7. But get here early, it feels up quick.
One of finest meals I’ve had in DC
Another great Sushi experience in the most inspiring ambiance!!
Happy hour has great deals on the freshest sushi .
Prices are now $1.50 per piece for most nigiri, but still well worth it. I recommend the white tuna, sea scallop, and my fav, lobster among the $1.50 pieces. The hamachi and uni r more but yummy. - Alan Rosenblatt
Friday night double date perfection. There's a crazy roll with clams and mussels we liked in particular! - Katie Runyan
Crazy hour is the best deal around, great outdoor seating, great drinks, love the calamari and the chicken fried rice. - Alexandra Brown
Make sure you get the Cajun chicken strips and the grilled Salmon. Some of the best in town. Good burgers too. - Patrick Landis
Sheila, who works in cosmetics and at the front of the store, is the best--helpful & kind! - Richard McCann
