Inexpensive , pristine sushi will lure you in (make sure to try the homemade soy sauce ); for heavier fare, kamameshi , a luscious rice casserole with chicken , veggies , or eel will satisfy your cravings.

What makes Kotobuki special is that it's the only Japanese restaurant in D.C. that serves kamameshi . The rice is cooked with chicken , eel , or vegetables in the iron pot. Read more

Prices are now $1.50 per piece for most nigiri , but still well worth it. I recommend the white tuna , sea scallop , and my fav, lobster among the $1.50 pieces. The hamachi and uni r more but yummy.

Get the Shumai for an appy and then the Chirashi Deluxe as an entree.. An excellent dinner to split between two people and frankly the freshest fish in the area

Audrey A

Tiny place, so get here early or expect to wait. Service is fast and the sushi is greatly priced and still offers good quality!

Lucia Theresa

If you want incredibly fresh, high quality and affordable sushi this is the place for you! If you are a vegetarian or can't have raw fish due to pregnancy or other issues, not a good choice for you.

Alex Simon

Really enjoy the scallops and generally quality of fish for the price

Mike LaRosa

Make sure you go there for an early dinner...there are only 6 tables and when the freshest sushi in DC is only $1.00 a piece the places is ALWAYS packed. No later than 6:30 - it's worth it!

Kate Turk

Get here early or risk waiting in the cramped stairwell! It's worth the wait, though.
