Not easy to find, but most amazing wall of whisky in Aus, including Islay single malts like Bruichladdich Octomore. Order the Ploughmans platter with the fancy Pepe Saya butter & side of HOT mustard
Best collection of cocktails in Sydney. Very crowded and extremely noisy , but great atmosphere. Favourite spot is at the bar , bartenders are really fun and creative if you let them be!
Consistently excellent experience: great drinks, crowd and atmosphere. Go on weeknights or arrive before 8pm Fri/Sat to avoid long queues. Must try a whisky sour , old fashioned or whisky apple juice .
Super popular speakeasy located in a small alley in CBD (it’s downstairs). Great whiskey cocktails and a cool vibe. No table service. Arrive early.
Unassuming stairway tucked away in an alley . One of the best whiskey selections I've ever seen. Great speakeasy feel with artist bartenders
Over 800 whiskies on tap and they make a mean Negroni . Unpretentious and worth the line for one of the best spots in Sydney!
More than 200 whiskeys to choose from. Lovely bunker culture with the new breed of hipster / retro young professionals along with other whiskey . Love it, bar tenders are knowledgeable .
Great speak-easy vibe, fantastic mixologists , huge whiskey menu and good music . I was with someone who introduced me to whiskey and apple juice . I’m sold on this place.
Awesome hidden bar in the CBD serving up a wide range of whisky . Proper old pub feel with great atmosphere. Free pretzels .
Tucked behind an alley way and down some concrete stairs you'll find the most extensive collection of whiskies amongst dark brick walls and incredible swing/oldies music . I never wanted to leave.
Awesome place for catch ups. Wide range of whiskeys & classic old fashioned setting. New york type entrance, you wouldnt know its there unless you know the bar & its location.
Naturally it’s a whisky lovers paradise. But do try some of the cocktails like Norton St. Among my favourite cocktails . Great vibe even on a Monday night.
There is a reason why it is one of the top bars in Sydney. Make sure to order whiskey / a whiskey based cocktail (if you don't know one, just ask the awesome bartenders )
Really dug the atmosphere. The place is a bit hidden and you go through a strange, dank stairwell to get in, but once you're in you've got complimentary pretzels and huge selection of whiskey !
Look out for the big guy at the alley and that's the first sign to arriving at the most amazing whisky bar in Sydney.... Ask the bartender for recommendation and throw tips into the bucket.
Constantly rated as one Sydney's best small bars , this hidden away whisky bar can get quite busy and loud . Try and see if you can get a seat at the bar if possible.
Extensive whiskey and whisky collection. Great speakeasy ambience with Jazz belted out making it the perfect after hours spot.
Easily the best bar in the CBD. Hidden away and a few levels down you're greeted with a delightfully dark atmosphere with free pretzels .
One of the best bars in the world. cool bar lightning and decoration, music , selection of drinks... all are amazing.
Absolutely loved it. Great vibe awesome whiskey selection . Nice to have Pretzels to nibble on. Get the apple whiskey !
"Underground" bar - you wouldn't know it existed if there wasn't a bouncer outside. Nice beer and an amazing selection of spirits .
Amazing speakeasy bar with an even more amazing collection of Whiskies . Must visit drinking hole for whiskey fanatics.
Enter down the rabbit hole into a magic bar land of whisky heaven, The Baxter Inn is your ultimate hidden booze den http://barchick.com/find-a-bar/sydney/the-baxter-inn
Superb place! One of sydney's hidden gem . Thru an unmarked alley , queue at a back lane, get down the stairs to access to the basement , open the door and a complete whisky haven!
Large choice of whiskies , great cocktails too and good old fashioned . Hidden place , hard to find but definitely worth it!
Great hidden bar . Feels like you've walked back to the 1920s with its prohibition theme. Definitely a new favourite for me!
This place is awesome, if you're here on a short trip or local, make sure you visit! It's got a great vibe and really good drinks :)
The Baxter Inn can be found down a nondescript Clarence Street alleyway where New York–style steam rises from the footpath and an always classy bouncer greets you.
What one imagines a swanky bar from the 20s might've looked like. No need to bluff through with zero whiskey knowledge either – bar staff were happy to help.
Fantastic cocktails , ambience and service. Try the peach fizz, blood and sand or that coconut drink if you want a cocktail .
It's worth seeking out (and waiting in line for): it's cosy, bustling and has a decent Old Fashioned on tap .
This spot could easily be in Brooklyn. The bartenders are fonts of whiskey knowledge and can crank out a legit Manhattan as well .
Perfectly conceived underground whiskey bar resembling a Prohibition-era saloon. Paradise for single malt lovers. The menu board knows no limits...
One of the best scotch bars in the world. Over 1000 types of scotch . Scotch , scotch , scotchhhhh!
Small place with 130 people capacity. Need to queue up to enter. Good selection of whiskey
Great drinks. Love the vibe. Rude doorman . Won't stop me going again. Worth the wait outside with him.
Always an awesome atmosphere. Great service, great wine , great whiskey , great music .
Whiskey heaven , obscure entrance, really feels like a speakeasy ... This is all the way from hidden to music and mood.
It’s not easy to find the Baxter Inn, and that’s how the regulars like it at this best of Sydney clubs. There’s no door list, no bookings and no functions. Read more
Great spot—super lively with the friendliest bartenders !
Old fashioned 's on tap and friendly bartenders . Ask for a "Redhook" for a taste of Brooklyn in Sydney.
Best choice of whisky ever! If you don't know what to take, ask the bartender for advice.
Unfortunately the tipple of whiskey was quite small - a standard shot. Very skimpy for the prices charged. Thankfully, there's a wide range of delicious whiskey to try.
Come here just for the atmosphere even if you don't drink whiskey
One of the best bars in Sydney with one of the largest whiskey menus I've ever seen
Obviously the whiskey nut the service was some of the best I've ever experienced.
Ambience, Music and the whiskey collection.. Must try the cocktails .
Should definitely try the apple whiskey !
Amazing Old Fashioned ! Great bartenders and lovely atmosphere but get there early or be prepared to wait in a looooong line !
Gives you a taste of a typical bar in Brooklyn or Greenwich Village , with the bonus of having a comprehensive whiskey selection ...
I love their craft beer. Dad 'n Dave! Good music on Sunday! Come early to grab a seat! - P PP
Cool whisky bar and carvery with a Viking theme. Food was great, particularly the duck. Great service as well. - W C
The bar itself is beautiful and glowing. Cocktails average $22 small selection retro bar food to accompany. Good for an intimate date - Janey Elmgreen
Swinging gin bar with live acid jazz band on Thurs. Seasonal cocktails menu, try the Pimm's and Shave & Tonic (G&T twist). $50 haircuts are pricey but come with friendly professionalism house beer. - Dennis Le
Good atmosphere, good music, good cocktails. Liked the Communist Sour and the Napoleon. And those banana chips! - Aurélie Ménard
