The Barber Shop

Sydney’s first official bar ’n’ barber. Oh sure, you can get the occasional snip and schooner at Arcadia Liquors (which we love, by the by – there’s nothing better than beer and scissors) but this is a whole new proposition.

Swinging gin bar with live acid jazz band on Thurs. Seasonal cocktails menu, try the Pimm's and Shave & Tonic (G&T twist). $50 haircuts are pricey but come with friendly professionalism + house beer .

I reckon of of the few legit speakeasy cocktail bars in Sydney that does everything right. Focus is on gin and they make really good cocktails with their selections too.

James Ferguson

A hidden bar with gin of all kinds from all over the world. Ask for their full menu which is biblical in size! Great cocktails in a cosy dim lit environment. Access via the barbershop on York Street .

Directions: Enter on York to go in the front. Go up stairs through the silver door at the top. Quite easy actually. Back door is in the alley by Baxter Inn .

Its literally in a barber shop . The barber shop is closed but look carefully and you will notice that the doors are unlock.

Matt Rowles

Legendary bar staff . Midweek patrons are an interesting bunch, well worth visiting then. They don't do Brazilian waxes either after midnight or at all, I didn't press the question.

Peter V

Does a bunch of cocktails suitable for grownup tastebuds, has a selection of bottled beers , likes to be known for their gin selection , only food is nibbles to accompany their drinks.

Jacqui Hillman

Awesome creative gin cocktails , loved it!

werner schwabe

Have a shave and enter the back door . A new world comes to live. Great New York style bar back there.

Terry Jong

Overall good experience. Waitresses have a great attitude, but a couple of guys behind the bar not so much. Quite understaffed (or overpacked) on a Friday night so be prepared to wait for orders!

Charlotte Bradshaw

White negroni is delicious! On Fridays they play old school hip hop .

Morgan Ragagnin

A hidden place in the heart of the city . Great choice of cocktails and spirits.

Sarah Conrad

Hard to find. Go in the barbershop and up the stairs. Slide the back door . Amazing cocktails !

Eylem Altuntas

You go through the barber 's to go upto the bar ???? delicious cocktails ????

Excellent gins , try Botanic Australis and Death's Door. But you have to find the place first!

George Westcott

Great small bar . Always missed this one in favour of Baxters - now glad Iv got another alternative.

Same alley of The Baxter Inn , different vibe. Here, gin is the main character and cocktails don’t disappoint.

Gin-focused speakeasy . Classic cocktails beautifully prepared

How bars should be: loud , fun, solid and close to other bars : Baxter Inn after, please.

Holy moly! For the first time since I moved to Australia in 15 years, a bartender finally bought me a drink.
