Wai'anapanapa State Park has many points of interest such as a seabird colony, the legendary cave of Princess Popo'alaea, a heiau (religious temple ), and a small black sand beach .
Absolutely beautiful black pebbles and sand beach . Totally worth the whole road to Hana just to see this. One of my favorite in Maui.

With the black sand beach , you'll definitely want to come here. But the cave will disappoint unless you're up for going deep in (bring a flashlight!).
It’s just wonderful; you can’t really swim since it’s rocky and it’s f there a swell then forget it. But the spot& the air breeze worth the visit.

This is a pretty treacherous spot to swim at. Best to enjoy the beach and caves instead. Also, take a stroll to the freshwater caves and learn of the legend of princess Popoalaea. Read more
