Visit the black sand beach , adjacent lava tube & swimming cave (behind parking lot ). Hike on the trail to the north of the beach for great views & crashing waves.
Wai'anapanapa State Park has many points of interest such as a seabird colony, the legendary cave of Princess Popo'alaea, a heiau (religious temple ), and a small black sand beach .
Absolutely beautiful black pebbles and sand beach . Totally worth the whole road to Hana just to see this. One of my favorite in Maui.

With the black sand beach , you'll definitely want to come here. But the cave will disappoint unless you're up for going deep in (bring a flashlight!).
It’s just wonderful; you can’t really swim since it’s rocky and it’s f there a swell then forget it. But the spot& the air breeze worth the visit.

This lava tube provides spectacular geyser displays, when during the Winter months swells dramatically increase the level of water gushing in. When snapping photos keep a safe distance from the water. - The Ritz-Carlton
