Originally it was the Portico Library It was conceived in 1803 by a group of businessmen and built from stone in a neo-classical style.
Some of the staff dont seem to have been shown what goes in which glass, Lager does NOT go in a Guinness Glass or a Ale glass it goes in a LAGER GLASS so it doesn't go flat!
Amazing breakfast , very good value ! Really nice inside, staff are very pleasant!
Nicholson's are reputed for their distinctive buildings with intriguing history and the Bank is probably one of the most interesting.
Now I use a chair I have no way of knowing if the food has improved or not. NO wheelchair access & a flight of rail-less steps to the entrance. Avoid if mobility-impaired.
Good ale selection in here
Have gin not ale (it's a tad warm)
Nicholson’s chicken burger is great
Brilliant selection of ales , alcoholic ginger beer and smashing sausages ! Friendly barstaff too :)
Everything
Good beer wine and food!
Great for real ale , and friendly helpfull staff too!
Get some of the massive selection of sausages , toad in the hole style. Epic stodge.
Check this place for the friendliest barstaff in town . Seriously they are mint .
Great Food!
Don't order anything except steak . It's awesome!
Amazing fish and chips !
Food menu changed yet again. Very minimal to choose from.
Have the pork and ale sausages , very good.
Burnt yet cold, really crap and overpriced food. Lazy/rude staff . Hideous.
Food standard has dropped a lot. Avoid.
The juke box is a bargain, and the board game selection is a nice touch. Did I mention the beer? - Emma Thom
Great quality home made pub grub at a very reasonable price. Also, Oz has special food nights on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Book early as they sell out quickly. - Rick Ogden
The kind of bar that is a must if you want to see some football, with a beer and some atmosphere. - Rob Nesbit
The food is really good value and is always really good. - Laura Maddison
Plenty of shops and the market is great. The food bit if market is best place to go and fine good food and reasonable too - Rachel Clarke
Always love dropping in here. Great atmosphere and superb bar staff. Good selection of beers, though I wish they would add the style of beer to the beer names!! Just a suggestion ;) - Steven Yarwood
