A little dangerous, a little dark, this place has an amazing old fashioned to go with its killer vibes. It's behind a black unmarked door next to Rotisserie Romados.
Cool layout. You will look like a drunk or confused tourist most likely when you first try to maneuver it. I was both. Every cocktail we had was wonderfully refreshing.
Not to be mistaken for the restaurant that goes by the same name, Big in Japan is a dark, mysterious bar dimly lit with candles. They specialize in whisky and also serve Japanese pub fare . Read more
Ask for a surprise drink. I couldn't figure out what I wanted so I asked them to surprise me. They brought me an incredible egg white , nutmeg , and liquor cocktail . 10/10. Would recommend.
The ambience was great, but the seating arrangement is sort of strange. On a busy Saturday night, we had to walk around the bar a few times before we found a place for two people. Drinks were kinda $$
This is arguably on the best cocktails bars I've ever been too. Low key , great vibe. Can't recommend the classic old fashion enough.
A small little hidden door which leads you to a little haven. Love the ambiance of the place. Really small choice of scotch . Classic cocktail available. Great date spot !
Door is hidden and it blends in with the buildings surrounding it so keep and eye out on in. Sit on the left side where it's more intimate and better service. Right side is more for groups.
Amazing ambience, I'd come back just for the vibes. Tokyo mule wasnt too flavorful, good if you don't like citrus . The service was good overall. They do not serve water unless you ask.
Cool feel even if it's a bit cramped. I like the drinks and snacks menus. Be specific about which alcohol you want or you might end up with Canadian Club in your whiskey mule.
Hidden cocktail bar behind the black door. Great Manhattans , great ambiance, great music . Good for dates or small groups.
Really great bar that's easy to miss from the street. The maze-like seating feels very retro and classy .
A must if you're in the area. Ideal if you're just with one other person.
Nice ambiance, cozy ! Everyone that I went with was enchanted by the place :) nice place for a romantic date .
Lovely place. Try to get spot at the bar and watch bartenders work. It's I amazing to watch to watch professionals work.
What a cool space! Absinthe fountain and old school drinks in a awesome atmosphere. Gets pretty packed so get there early.
Go here. Order everything. Decor is super chic
Great vibe for this Japanese-inspired speakeasy . Cocktails are great.
If you plan on going with a large group (6 or more), avoid late weekend nights. When you'll make it in, you'll be hard-pressed to find seating for all, together. It's great for 2 or 3, though
Cool bar layout and good cocktails . Hard to find the door if you don't know where it is, except on weekend nights when there tend to be lineups...
Beautiful, modern bar with a speakeasy vibe and lots of great small touches that make it the perfect place to drink the night away.
I'm addicted to Old Fashioned 's because of this place. Ask Mustachio to make you a Ramos Gin Fizz , when his anger dissipates, settle for Montreal's best Old Fashioned .
The Tokyo Mule is excellent on a warm summer evening
great ambience, great choices. bar arrangement can be a little confusing/weird. less room than it looks
A great speakeasy . Quiet place to grab a nice cocktail and have a conversation.
best kept secret in montreal. Most japonaise bar in town . vast selection of sakés . japonese whisky is a must
Amazing ambiance, probably the best in the city . Perfect place for a date!
Very cool vibe & décor, solid cocktails , but a disappointing whisky list.
A nice place to sip a negroni . Too dark for a picture.
Nice place with a speakeasy vibe and the best Old Fashioned
Most beautiful bar in town . Great cocktails great music great style. Relax.
The entrance looks like something out of a Yakuza flick but leads into a cozy , classy interior with great drinks.
This place is douche central. Complete with white guy bartender who thinks he's Asian wearing a topknot. He had a meltdown right in front of customers. And the layout is a death trap/fire hazard.
Hard to find, but a great little spot. Ironically the most limited sake menu I’ve seen.
Amazing place where you can get amazing drinks and still be able to talk
Being a date, especially if you both love whiskey !
This trendy bar is romantic and a great spot for dates
Enjoy the atmosphere of a japanese style speakeasy . A date place .
Just go and enjoy the environment!!! The negroni !!!
Beautiful location and great drinks!
Discreet, slightly upmarket spot. Tasty cocktails and wel curated bottles.
Cocktails here are crafted with precision and are always excellent and consistent.
Awesome for dates. Not for groups. Umeshu is the #1 choice. Then cocktails .
Amazing selections of whiskey , single malts , blended it was heavenly
Probably the only speakeasy in Montreal that lives up to its name. Great old fashioned .
One of few places in the city to have Lilet, don't pass up the opportunity to have a Vesper Martini
It is a nice place for a date or to have fun with a few friends.
When you want to feel like a well-read, stylish yakuza , this is the place to go.
Redrums are the way to go
Just magical. Great place for an intimate date.
Amazing cocktails! The Perfect Manhattan is nothing less than perfect and the Sand Martin is super smooth. - Ben Mackey
Great cocktails! They know the difference between stirred and shaken. Good week spot to meet a friend. Summer terrace looks like the one every Montrealer would like to have for themselves. - Zoe Handry
Love this place! Great selection of tasty cocktails. Get there early or be prepared to wait. - Meghan McGee
The best poutine in Montreal. We went twice over a short weekend. The line might be intimidating but it's worth it - Chris O'Brien
The salad poutine is a nice way to feel a little less guilty and both are awesome! - Tara St Laurent
Really liked this hip place, creative food, great draft selection, friendly staff - Sofia Uz
