Der Mehringplatz ist einer von 3 Plätzen, die bei der Stadterweiterung um 1730 angelegt wurden. Er bildet den südlichen Endpunkt der Friedrichstr. Sein Kennzeichen ist ein Brunnen mit der 1843 errichteten Friedenssäule.
