One best known border-crossing of Cold War days. The spot remains a must see sight, even accounting for the fact that there is little left to recall the atmosphere of pre-1989 days. The site functioned from 1961-90 as the main entry/departing point for diplomats, journalists and non-German visitors.

Definitely a cool historical site , however the soldiers dressed in uniform will ask if you want a picture and charge you for it. You can also get your passport stamped here!
The preserving of history is always great but found the two guards over friendly with tourists . It's good for a quick walk through. Tip: save more time & energy for the museum which closes by 5 pm.
Nasty tourist trap . There is nothing funny in the tragedy of German people, they should simply leave the checkpoint as it is, not organize performance with guards and so on. Disgusting.
The only way in or out of communist East Berlin after the creation of the Berlin Wall in 1961. It gets its name from the phoenetic alphabet, after checkpoint Alpha and Checkpoint Bravo.Read more here! Read more

This district is charged of history. You could visit the museum , take a pic to the checkpoint with guards and have a drink very close afterwards.
Truly humbling to realise the trauma of division in Berlin between western (FR, GB, US) sectors and eastern Soviet sector (later GDR capital Berlin). Border here was north Soviet / south US.
The exhibition is huge and comprehensive, however sometimes off-topic. Plus translations into English and Russian are faulty and inconsistent. Worth visiting to realize the tragedy of the wall
Two men posing as soldiers with flags for money, idiot toursits everywhere in the middle of a crossroads. Visit the Topographie des Terrors museum instead at the next corner on Niederkirchnerstraße.
I was very curious about this place. And indeed it is a very interesting place to visit. Especially if you are interested in German's history.
You'll get an original Visa to visit "East-Berlin" (DDR) with original stamps from the time before 1990 for 10 €. Nice memory in your Berlin journey.
It's touristy , but that's part of the point of how much things have changed. The museum next door is a little chaotic but fascinating and worth a visit
You can make best solo pictures for free in the evening. In case want rhe photo with the actors in uniform you should do it till 19 p. m.

Good to see one of the main boarders between the east and west and read about the history.
This is a must see sight in Berlin. See the amazing lengths people went to in order to flee the DDR
Very detailed exhibition about the wall and many others. Worth a two hour visit.
Moving experience not to be missed if visiting Berlin. Photos nearby of the sad days of division make one think.
2020 update. The actors who play soldiers and take your money are no longer here. Was told they stamp your Official Passport for fun so DON’T DO IT. Very historical place and must see.
East Berliners tunnelled , dived, ballooned and zip-wired to the West when the Cold War offered cold comfort. It’s these great escape stories that make Checkpoint Charlie unmissable.
Famous historical site , former border crossing between East and West Berlin. A piece of very sad period of our history.
Set a good few hours aside. It's not a great layout and it could do with a spruce up but there's some really cool interesting stories hidden all over the place.
Interesting point due to its historical significance. Refrain from reading the panels on Friedrichstraße, what a despicable bunch of American propaganda!
Classic place to go. The museum is great but quiet long!
Cool place to take a souvenir photo with the 2 soldiers . 3 euros per person for more multiple photos.
I actually took Checkpoint Charlie off my personal "things to show visitors"-list because it is completely unspectacular. Partially probably due to my lack of interest in history but well ... ????
It does worth the visit, enjoy taking pictures of the soldiers ????
A must if it's you're first time in Berlin. Historic significance is just too important.
Nice place with a great story behind it .. Just c the Pianist movie and ull know
If you are in Berlin go and see it, it’s a part of Berlin history. Don’t stamp your pass.
A lot of the must visit places are within 2 km radius from checkpoint Charlie. So take a walk.
2€ to take unlimited pictures with the guards . You can also get your passport stamps here!
