Try making it to the kaluuokaoo crater . It has beautiful red stones. It's a 5 mile hike there and back and can take up to 4 hours.
Half-day hike descends into crater and returns. Trailhead between mile markers 14 and 15. 2.25 miles round trip. Lots of switchbacks and views, native flowers, usually misty and cool. - Nico Pitney
