Wait outside the doors for the center to open at 515am and get a prime sunrise viewing spot indoors. If you want to stay outside - they sell jackets and long sleeve shirts inside.
Parking looks like a mess, but after the sunrise , people drive off fairly quickly and then you can repark and hike .
Do bring a light jacket and wear jeans . It is cool - especially as the clouds pass right through. The views : incredible and well worth the trip to the top.
Show up early. The gorgeous sunset draws a huge crowd.
Get away from the crowd and walk down sliding sand trail to see the sunrise . It's a five minute walk
Be sure to have a jacket , it is cold and windy. Spectacular view that should not be missed.

The two mile hike to the waterfall was an absolute dream! Wear tennis shoes , bring a snack & water, & if opting to get in the falls, bring water shoes !

Best spot to catch the rising of the Maui sun! Bring a jacket as it gets chilly. Check for sunrise times as it'll take ~2hrs & don't forget to make a reservation. Do the Lavender farm on the way down. - Jacy Higa

Try making it to the kaluuokaoo crater. It has beautiful red stones. It's a 5 mile hike there and back and can take up to 4 hours. - Gabriela Paniagua
