Kopi. After sampling the beverage stalls here, the brew from Mei Xiang Cha Shi #01-72 was the smoothest & most aromatic. 80-cents for a kopi-O kosong

Cheen The Curious

Curry puff (epok epok). What's interesting about the snack from Pastry For Life stall #01-78 is the extremely light pastry holding in the curried potato chunks

Alicia

Dumpling noodles from mistaken "Wrg" stall, right next to the famous one, turned out pretty good. And I actually preferred it to the wanton Mee my HB got from the famous stall when we met up later.

Cheen The Curious

Local desserts ($1.80 per bowl). Enjoyed the authentic bowls prepared by Wei Ji #01-76. Generous ingredients for tau suan & red bean/green bean. Not overly sweet. Intend to sample the rest of menu

Cheen The Curious

Vegan-friendly desserts . Make a bee-line for Wei Ji #01-76. Clockwise from top left: Barley beancurd , Snow fungus pear gum soup , Green & red bean soup , Tao suan (split mung beans ). Prices $1.80-$2.50

Stewed duck . Eunice Quek, food correspondent, enjoyed it from Soh Food #01-106. The meatier whole leg serving ($5.50) is served with mushrooms & spinach . Source: Straits Times

Cheen The Curious

Wash basins. If u just need to rinse your hands or an item, no need to walk all the way to the toilets . There are basins (& a water cooler) in between the food centre & the market .

Cheen The Curious

Roasted meats . Above average serving from Happy World Roast #01-107. Clean-tasting preparation, although 'sio bak' (roast pork ) has overly salty skin. Served with chicken soup . Good chilli dip

Cheen The Curious

Chicken cutlet ($6.50). From Chicks N Chops #01-71. Well-marinated. Served with homemade sweet sour sauce . Coleslaw was a bit dry. Asked to swap fries out, so chef gave more of the other sides

Cheen The Curious

Playground . There's a spacious play facility nxt to food centre, @ end of Blk 8. Breezy spot. A distraction for kids who need to burn some energy off during a meal :-)

Cheen The Curious

Amazing mural painted by the nearby St. Margaret's Secondary School Creative Art Club. Spotted it @ the wet market side. It's titled "Tarik!"

Cheen The Curious

'Chai png ' (economy rice ). Lai Huat #01-95 serves generous portions of rice . Curry sauce was tasty too! This plate $3

Cheen The Curious

Rojak #01-90 is one of Prof Tommy Koh's fave, esp for its 'hei kor' (prawn paste sauce). Source: Sunday Times

Lionel Chan

The #01-98 chicken rice is decent and not too oily and the uncle is friendly and will add you more rice if you ask for it. 3 dollar for a add rice add meat. Only available until afternoon.

Cheen The Curious

Wantan mee : Ah Wing's #01-108 WTM sauce & char siew (BBQ pork ) slices are on the salty side. Wantan fillings were generous

Cheen The Curious

Fishball mushroom minced meat noodle ($4). Typical order at Heng Heng #01-73. Tasty & affordable

Cheen The Curious

Pondok Marina #01-104 sees queues during mealtimes. Regulars enjoy their mixed rice , plenty of selection

Cheen The Curious

Nasi Lemak . When I sampled on a workday 7:30am, the rice was soggy from Economical Bee Hoon #01-82. Chilli paste is the savoury type, not sweet. Fried chicken wing was cold, not crispy

Ring A-ling

Nur Rezeki prata fresh and crispy all the time, excellent! Opening hours 7am-7pm

Lionel Chan

The Heng Heng Nasi Lemak #01-83 offers acceptable varieties of items for economy beehun, that's pretty decent and the price is cheap . $3.2 for 1 meat 2 veg order.

Delicious wanton noodles from Ah Wing’s!

草泥馬 (熊妃)

The Farrer Road Chicken Rice stall is nice and cheap . The chicken is very tender and juicy

Cheen The Curious

Postal box. The nearest Singpost mailbox is opposite the toilets , on the way to the multi-storey carpark

Lots of lunchtime crowd, so be there early to avoid queuing. One of the chicken rice stall doubles up as a chai png stall.
