Try any of their poached eggs dishes for breakfast - all are fantastic. The Spanish latte is delicious too. It's a latte with condensed milk and caramel instead of milk .

The Smoked Chicken and Apple Salad was delicious. A lot of old people were here ;-) Classical music . Pretty dark place. The Staff was friendly .

A NYC gem! The Greenwich omelette is a meat/cheese lover's dream. Definitely order the oatmeal brulee! A delightful spin on your traditional oatmeal . Skip the Canyonland Eggs . It's far too simple.

Apple eggs Benedict was great but the Spanish latte blew my mind. Sounds weird, but I was expecting a simple latte--this was delicious. (They probably use orzata?) Plus, it comes in a small bowl. Yum.

Simple food, well prepared is the winning way of this downtown fixture. E&C gets a bum rap as omelet joint, but has long served inventive eats that sometimes surprise. Coffee is bottomless and good.

Notice the coffee tastes different? Spring 2012 brought George Howell Costa Rica coffee to E&C. A citrusy, clean , medium body cup has replaced syrupy Sumatra. It's pricey at $3.75, but still endless.

Heirloom tomato BLT with fried egg is a memorable version of a sandwich classic. Basil and superior bacon make the difference.
