One of the biggest zoo in Europe and memeber of Eaza and very keen on conservation projects, breeding programme.very good at Penguins, have had a chance to spend a week with keepers, very helpful guys.
Definitely recommend going around 10am so you can get the full day there, a lot of animals to see! The meet the reptiles talk was fantastic!
This is a great zoo and so much to see. The only down side is the climb in this zoo as on a hill , but still well worth the visit as some great animals here. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Took our three year old grandson here. His highlight was the panda , after that tiger. If you're looking for something to do in Edinburgh with little ones, and the weather is good, this is it.
Fantastic zoo . One of the most varied in the UK. The penguin parade is not to be missed.
Have to say I thought the zoo all looked very run down+in need of some tlc! Was great to see The Panda 's & Koalas , but we were sadly disappointed with alot of it! The Chimps had a lovely enclosure !
This is by far the best zoo in the UK, run by friendly staff & animals that arnt shy! Highly recommend!! 10/10
Little on expensive side for adults (book ahead online before 3 days and save a little) and most the animals are asleep/doing nothing. Good day out for kids though
Book as early as you can for the best chance to see the Pandas up and awake. They get fed around 9am and will be awake eating and wandering around for a couple of hours after.
Probably the best city zoo in the UK. Check out the pandas and koalas .
Take cash. There are no ATM 's and nearly all the food places are vending machines or cash only . The children's Skypark is great for £4. Cash only .
One of the coolest exhibits in the park is... the ants ! They have two terrariums and walk over a rope carrying leaves to their nest. Very fun to watch.
Not the best Zoo I've been but some great things to see and learn. Many animals though were hidden and didn't get to see them
To the best of my knowledge it is the only zoo that you can see koalas and giant pandas in the UK. They are so sweet.
Best zoo l have ever seen. You can see panda , lion, touch snakes and some insects, feed animals.
Make sure you get there early to make the most of the park . Lots to see and the only place you'll see a koala . Also, prepare yourself for hill walking.
Koala Fact: The Aboriginal word koala means ‘no drink’ as they don’t leave the trees for water which they get from their diet of Eucalyptus leaves. Read more
Fantastic FREE treasure hunt in the Zoo , just download the app, Global Treasure Apps! www.globaltreasureapps.com
Quite annoying that the member's gate doesn't open at the same time as the zoo ! Other than that it is a great place - the membership is really worth considering if you plan to go there 2-3 times
go straight to the top of the hill first while your legs have it in them
Hope you have a good clutch and hand break in your car if you get stuck on the hill into the car park . It's rather steep!
Take the free shuttle bus to the top then walk down. Its a lot better than walking up. Don't miss the squirrel monkeys.
If its a nice day bring a picnic and let the kids run wild and take in the wonderful view
The earlier you arrive, the more time you get before the hordes of children show up.
Great range of things to do and see
Great zoo , pandas and penguins are the best!
The zoo is layed out on a hill , if you're bringing a heavy pushchair and/or kids be prepared.
Don't bother buying an annual pass. If you go on a blustery Sunday after 4PM nobody checks for tickets anymore. Also Don't reserve or let alone print any Panda slot tickets. Nobody wants this anyway.
Third time I've been in my 30 years no reptiles ! Koalas closed starting to look a little run down in some parts pandas were awesome though
Make sure you have a spare battery for your camera and a lot of space on your memory card if animal photography is your thing.
Pandas enclosure is a must
it was fun and very educational ... they have scheduled talks for some species
Fabulous for the family
Grasslands is the refurbished restaurant and a big improvement. Members get 10% discount . Great cakes .
Wow animals were so cute and beautiful!!
Do find a spot for the penguin parade by 1.45. Places fill up really quick. There's a rock by the bin which makes a dry-ish seat!
Turn up at opening time and you should get earlyish Panda viewing !
I really liked the Pandas and the Binturongs.
Staff say they keep a good few tickets for walk-ins each day for pandas . They keep seven. Just so people know before setting off.
Did not need to book on rainy, midweek, late off season (during term time). Went round twice. Got very wet, though!
Book ahead if you want to see the pandas
Make sure to book in advance if you want to see the Panda 's!
Don't miss the view point where the zebras are! Gorgeous.
Awesome place loved the panda 's
Cheeky Monkeys jealous of Tian Tian, scared her indoors! Cameras ready and remember flash off!
If it's raining don't go,you won't see anything.
Night lights!
Be sure to see the pandas !
Enjoyed my visit very much ????
Heart of the zoo. Penguins parade a bit of a damp squib as it’s only ever 1 or 2 out walking at most. Good play area for kids. Head to the glass window next to Monkey House to see under the water - Clark Gillies

We were told by a volunteer to head up to the enclosure on opening and were able to see both Pandas getting their first feed of the day. Thee staff were really helpful and very informative. - Russell Harrison
