Don't miss the submarine !! I could have stayed here all day but navigation was a bit treacherous with a 12 month old. Incredible bit of history and technology, would come back just for this.
We think this is the best naval museum around so much history inside the USS Yorktown. Make sure to follow the number tours so you don't miss anything and make available half a day of free time
Well worth the $20 entry! There's not many places where you can board an actual 1943 aircraft carrier . The thing is huge! Plenty of areas are left open for the public - fantastic experience.
Really amazing historical experience. Not many places that you can go to walk on the deck of an aircraft carrier . Staff is extremely friendly and informative. Set aside a few hours!
Don't miss the medal of honor museum . Be aware, there are a lot of ladders and stairs to climb during the tours but it's so worth it!
Photo Tip: Take the entrance into Patriots Point by walking through the Charleston Harbor Marina . You'll have plenty of photo ops of the rear of the Yorktown and front of the Laffey .
The USS Yorktown, now a museum ship here, made history in 1968 when it was used as a recovery vessel for Apollo 8, NASA’s first lunar orbital mission. (From Aerial America) Read more
Get $3 off per person off admission fees. They were able to scan it from the phone as long as you made it big enough. <aclass="entity url"rel="nofollow" href="http://touristpack.com/mobile/index.cfm/page/viewcoupon#&ui-state=dialog"target="_blank" data-sig="lQaBchAwSCDD9Yix68iY5LIxnB0=" onmousedown="fourSq.ui.OutgoingLink.mousedown($(this), event)" data-source="tip-text">http://touristpack.com/mobile/index.cfm/page/viewcoupon#&ui-state=dialog</a>
A little piece of the American War History. Incredible experience. Be careful with the stairs!
If you enjoy eating in an unusual setting, don't miss having lunch in the Officer's Mess. It was good, cheap and fun!
The Haunted Tour of the USS Yorktown is a must!!!
Great place for the family and one heck of a flight deck with several different aircraft, F-14'S, f-4'S, etc. Gotta check it out if you are in town
Great great day to visit submarine , USS Laffey and USS Yorktown. Not very busy and lovely weather
Park across the street at the Charleston College tennis courts , then you don't have to pay to park .
On the lower left hand aft corner of the island on Yorktown is a dent. This was made by a crash of a F-9F Cougar in the mid 1950's.
Great rundown on many WWII carriers. Check out the Vietnam exhibit .
Give yourself as least half a day to see everything.
With the addition of a parking fee and raised admission prices and the subtraction of two vessels , Patriots Point is no longer the great place to visit it once was. That's too bad.
As said, great views of the bridge . Take the ferry to Ft. Sumpter but beware, some of the literature around the museum paint a slightly less than objective picture of the civil war.
You could spend the whole day here. There's so much to see and learn about.
Get tickets early for fort sumter tour .
ASWOME !!! Had a blast there!!!
Check in here in the morning or late afternoon...beautiful views of the Ravanel Bridge set to a great sunrise/sunset.
Everything is awesome
Great experience
Awesome Dinner Cruise
Dress warmly walking down the pier on cold, windy days!
Dont waste your time coming here unless youre going to dish out 18 bucks per person to look at a ship. You can't even look at it unless you pay. Ridiculous. The ticket lady was a nasty bitch too.
