Sushi joints are a dime a dozen in this city , but Shiro 's will always be at the top of the heap. Shiro Kashiba trained under master Jiro Ono (of Jiro Dreams of Sushi ). [Eater 38 Member]
Sit at the sushi bar (bonus points for dining solo) and let the chef’s decide your meal with never ending Omakase . They really love what they do - shout out to Jun and Gustavo !
Wowww such good sashimi . The $75 omakase came with 18 pieces, including tuna four ways (fatty and fattier) and three kinds of salmon . Uni too!
Maybe the best sushi of all time. I don't say that lightly. Amazing selection. The omakase menu marches you through up 45 different exquisite types. Sit at the bar to get the run down on each piece
What to say that others haven’t? This is the best sushi I’ve ever had. Omakase was spectacular — steelhead, sea bream , blue fin tuna were standouts. P.S. takeout sushi burgers are also fun and yummy.
I wish I could eat here every day. Amazing sushi . They paint each slice with soy sauce at the table so you won't drown the fish in a swamp of wasabi and soy. Go here.
Omakase is the way to go! Fresh fish and crazy delicious dishes! You will spend U$ 70,00 , but is totally worth it an experience to remember 😎
Highly recommended the $75 Omakase , which is an bargain for the fresh quality fish from Japan/Alaska. Also recommend making a reservation to avoid the long line .
The quality of the fish/food is outstanding. You need to book in advance. The service is quick and polite. It's really tasty, if you love sushi it's a must go.But I still prefer Kashiba.
Best sushi I've had in my entire life! Ordered the chef 's selection of sushi , and it came with an excellent miso soup to start. Loved trying such a range of different types of sushi .
Omakase is the way to go. Sit at the bar and let them fill you with happiness. Don't expect any Americanized crap. And if you're lucky, yes, Shiro San might be the one serving you at the bar himself!
Omakase ! Best quality sushi I had. If you want the first seating when they open at 5:30, get in line at around 4:45.
OMG! The fish is amazing! Best sashimi I've had outside Japan. The Omakase menu is pricey but worth every penny.
Chef Shiro Kashiba trained under the legendary Jiro Ono in Tokyo—subject of one of the best food docs ever, Jiro Dreams of Sushi—so it's no wonder it offers the best raw fish experience in Seattle.
only 12 seats at sushi bar ! come at 445pm with reservation latest to make sure you save your spot. omakase with shiro is very entertaining. sushi is fresh and quality isn't bad. enjoy your experience
Wow! The Omakase blew our mind! 2 very happy, full, and drunk people for under $200 total! No reservations so swing by early and put your name down for a spot at the sushi bar .
This is one of the older and most loved sushi joints in town ...Seattlites will tell you :) Make reservations , and get the omakase if you've got the funds. Shiro and Daisuke will make your tummy yummy.
What can't I say. Best sushi experience in the United States . Omakase is technically a sushi tasting menu here. A must for sushi fans.
Continuing the Asianpart of the tour in a city with such a large Japanese population, it's time to try some of the best sushi in the city . This is a pricey one, but the Omakase at Shiro 's is fantastic
The quality of the fish is outstanding. I've been twice now, and if I go back for a third it'll be for the omakase . Otherwise it's a bit pricey for rolls and nigiri .
Sushi joints are a dime a dozen in this city , but Shiro 's will always be at the top of the heap.
Esquire: Tradition of Edomae-style sushi . Opened in 1994 and, in its modest way, it remains the West Coast peak of Japanese hospitality and fish/rice artistry .
The only way to do Shiro 's: Omakase at the bar . Go early, get on the list, leave your phone number and head to a bar nearby while you enjoy aperitifs while you wait.
This is the freshest, finest sushi I've ever had. The prices are great for what you're getting here. Make reservations a week or so in advance if you want to eat at normal mealtime hours.
Really legit sushi . Sit at the bar and get omakase . Tuna , scallops , and mirugai are really good. Chefs are very friendly and chatty.
Very solid overall experience. Great service. The tuna sushi dishes and, surprisingly, the chilled noodle soup were the standouts on the omakase menu.
The black cod is amazing starter. As for the sushi roll , the dragon rolling n their salmon special. And for those whom are more exploratory with their sushi try the sea urchin it is amazing!
Book the table way ahead and be on time. Don't order sashimi if you are not experienced with raw fish . Service and food are excellent!

Sit with Shiro at the sushi bar and ask for the omakase - start with fresh oysters and a cold Sapporo ...I wish I lived in Seattle so I could eat here more often!
We went the eat until you're full route and were very pleased! The fatty tuna and prawns were especially great, but we enjoyed everything.
Best sushi I've ever had in the continental US. Get there at 5:15pm sharp to get a spot at the sushi bar . Order the Omakase , you won't regret it.
The omakase is worth the money! The blue fine tuna belly just melts in your mouth. Fantastic.
Best sushi experience I have had in my life. It is cheaper than my hometown in California, slices are larger, chefs are friendlier and super fast. A Washington diamond for sure.
The sushi is amazing. Expensive, but worth it.
The staff are nice - Has a good vibe - Not comparable to Yasuda’s of the world but it’s good
Get a seat at sushi bar and talk to chefs . It's fun. Had sashimi plate, chawanmushi, and flan creme Brulee . All great
Go Omakase , for sure! You’ll get a selection of stuff you’ll love and get to try something you wouldn’t pick on your own.
Sit at the sushi bar , and do the pay as you go omakase . It's very pricy , but worth the wait and the splurge. Treat cho'self.
Excellent sushi place; worths every dollar spent. Get there early, line starts before 5:30pm. Ordered anything from today's special.
Not sure if Geoduck butter is only a special of the week menu but if you see it on the menu you owe it to your tummy to order it and you won't be disappointed!
This was the best sushi experience I've ever had. It will be all downhill from here! Sit at the sushi bar and order the chef 's special. Un-f$:@ing-believable!
Worth the wait, but not the same since Shiro left. Black cod is amazing and so is the fatty tuna .
get the omakase . really reasonably priced.
The Omakase is amazing! The chef gave us great explanations and a very diverse range of tastes.
Our favorite place for sushi . Shiro is the best. Omakase set to your desired price. $60 total for two gets you some awesome fish ! Sea urchin and scallops rock.
The sushi was AMAZING! However, I was sad to hear shiro has retired. Still would highly recommend the restaurant .
Really a nice treat. Treat yourself to the kinmedai and buri nigiri . (Golden snapper and adult yellowtail ).
Good nigiri . Get seafood tempura . Namban-zuke is extremely good for appetizer
Stunningly good sushi and sashimi. Start at the bar and ask about the sake selection. Beautiful decor. - Kuo-yu Liang
Taichi Kitamura is the terrific sushi chef who gave us Chiso and Chiso Kappo (now closed). If those were good restaurants, his Eastlake sushi bar and omakase house is a great one. - Seattle Met
