For almost 200 years the Old Absinthe House bar has been a staple of life in the Vieux Carré. Located on the corner of Rue Bourbon and Rue Bienville, the cooper-topped wooden bar captivates patrons as they sip their favorite beverages.

Absinthe is the name of the game along with whiskey . Good service and prices. Spicy popcorn is a great bar snack .
Tried the Green Fairy . It's good, but dangerous. They pour damn near an entire rocks glass so if you're old like me beware. I wised up and traded it in for a beer .
Absinthe , where else but right here. Price's range from $16-$22 for an epic drink, if your into Absinthe . Or you can sample several adult beverages , plus it's the oldest bar on Bourbon street , sweet..
Come here early to beat the crowds. The bartenders are super knowledgeable about absinthe and will help you find something to your liking. Great people watching .
A relaxed old bar that once served the likes of Mark Twain and Walt Whitman. Stop by at least once. Absinthe seems somewhat overpriced, but I enjoyed local beer on tap .
Serving patrons for 200 years including many historical figures and celebrities, this is a gem on Bourbon Street. The Sazerac is incredible!
Had the top shelf absinthe , they made me welcome with the ritual of the sugar cube, water and all that. Tastes like strong licorice , a biker gang Mae in and ordered 6 shots... Awesome!
Patience is the best bartender . Only stopped in for one but enjoyed her I had another. She makes delicious Bloodys and she is so much fun.
If you are not an absinthe connaisseur, try the New Orleans one. Mixed up with mint and Pastis, very good!
I love this place. Great selection of absinthe and a fabulous Sazerac
For almost 200 years this bar has been a staple of life in the French Quarter. Visitors can sip their favorite beverages as the sights & sounds of the French Quarter trickle into this comfy tavern.
Charming old bar with fireplace and large selection of domestic and European absinthe
My favorite NOLA bar . Get a gin fizz and people watch .
Amazing dive bar on Bourbon St. Great knowledgable staff on Absinthe . Get yourself the topself $22 shot. Sip and slip away while listening to Frankie.
Expensive but worth a try if you haven’t had one. Friendly staff
Come by the AT&T Fan Zone at Bracket Town at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Mon, April 2, for a chance to get an autograph from basketball legends Jay Williams, David Robinson, & John Havlicek!
One of the more laidback spots on Bourbon street. Yes, there IS wormwood in the absinthe . No, you won't see a green fairy .
Absinthe and sazerac are great with excellent service. Focus on liquor , not beer
Spending our last day at a shitty dive bar , beers are $6, there are some really drunk guys, everything is covered in filth, and it kinda smells like puke. New Orleans finest.
This felt like of the more legit Bourbon St choices. Our absinthe was delightful.
Bartenders are laid back , and very knowledgeable about the 'Green Faerie'. Nice 1st experience for me.
an awesome spot to see a piece on history
One of the only bars on Bourbon Street worth visiting, preferably very late.
Great absinthe selection.
Absinthe is Jaegermeister for Belle Époque douchebags . Having said that, the selection is fantastic and the service is nice.
Great history. But. Really expensive drinks
Even if absinthe isn't your bag, they make great cocktails that are still solidly in the "other" category.
Great drinks, but the bar would look so much better if they removed all the trash on the walls.
The cocktails are wonderful here. This is a nice change of pace on Bourbon .
The juke box is cheap & has some good songs. Also try the bloody Mary . Pickled green beans & okra FTW.
Recommendation: have a Sazerac .
Bar top is uncomfortably high, but the tenders are very open and warm provided you tip like a grownup and not a college student .
Get the Bloody Mary . Make sure there are pickled green beans in there. Makes the whole drink.
Great location and excellent drinks.
Real Swiss Absinth available , tried the Louisiana one, Berry Good.
Another hole! Totally a Place to drink on your way to the next place to drink!
One of the only bars in the US who will do a real absinthe shot. Order one.
Of all the bars lining gaudy Bourbon Street, this may be the only one a local would be caught dead in. Plus, drinks are never wasted, because the law allows you to take them with you wherever you go.
Afternoons here are great! Lots of people watching , open doors and windows to the corner and Dawn makes the best mint juleps on Bourbon Street.
Great service!
The local red absinthe with hibiscus was pretty nice
Cozy fireplace for cool nights. Otherwise the place is a divey sports bar .
Bloody Mary with green chile vodka , yummy ????
Check out Old Absinthe House as seen on Drinking Made Easy Read more
Anything with the Word Absinthe has to be Good!!! :)
Perfect location to end your sat nights aka Sunday mornings.. over a few Irish car bombs
First Bar we went to on Bourbon Street. Had to try a Sazerac !
Sit upstairs on the balcony . View is nice!
Get the Bloody Mary , green fairy or Ramos gin fizz
There's nothing else like it! Wish they would've had some Mansithe, but I did try Absinthe Lucid. ????
Ok round three! Fight! 3️⃣ ???? - Keren Gomez
Great spot with cool rustic decor. Had a street band outside! - Lauren Elle
One of the best place for burgers at 2AM, live music weekends, pool, video games, and you can do your laundry here too - Jason ????Izzy???? Sherry
Cheap drinks and a really relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend going in the evening, and sitting along the street. The bartenders were super friendly! - Jan-Erik Samuelsen
Great atmosphere and drinks. Food was great, blackened drum(fish), red beans and rice. Would recommend to everyone to give it a try. - Robert Cottrell
Great cocktails. Spinning bar may make you dizzy after a while. Great jazz music the night we were there. - Robert Occhialini
