The views are fantastic! The city , the castle , the sea - you see it all from one location. The hike there is not as rough as it looks from below and the landscape is beautiful.
About 45 minutes hike to the top of the hill ....30 minutes for those who are fast. Be sure to bring enough water and a wind jacket . A must visit for those looking for a panoramic view of Edinburgh .
It's really beautiful panorama from here. Though if you are lazy don't climb on Arthur's Seat itself, the closest hill to the city also provide terrific view , while saving you time and power )
Absolutely love coming here amazing views of the city . You can see for miles. Great place to walk with the family. Lovely ponds and the bottom and you can feed the swans & ducks
Tough climb . You'll be wishing you had super sized lungs. Bring water, maybe a small picnic , def a snack . Persevere because it's so worth it when you get to the top.
Worth the hike (medium difficulty, for non-professional hikers). Wear appropriate footwear and clothing , it's not a walk in the park , if you know what I mean...
We were afraid of difficult way up but not at all! It was nice walk, took us about two hours up and down from the city centre. And the weather was great!
I absolutely love coming here for walks with my friends, amazing way to get some fresh air and see the gorgeous panoramic views of Edinburgh !
Absolutely beautiful view of the entire area! Definitely worth the hike up!
Take frequent breaks, have a breather, and watch your footing near the top (especially in wet weather) and you'll do it!
It really is a hike , especially on a windy day. Don't go too late because you don't want to be stuck when it gets dark. Worth the hike for the view .
It is so worth going up, the view is incredible. Make sure to go up with good weather though!
Hold on to your hat! Well worth the walk for great views of the city and beyond. Can get a tad windy up there.
Fantastic views , fresh air and a wee bit of cardio . What more could you ask for? Don't expect to be doing a long walk once you come back down, though.
Breathtaking views ! About 1 mile up to the top with a decent path (gets rough at spots)
Do this. It's a relatively quick and wonderful climb with a stunning, magical payoff at the top!
Unmissable view over Edinburgh, well worth the climb . Allow between 1 & 2 hours depending in your rhythm to go up & down. It's windy up there, and if it has rained the days before it can be slippery.
Awesome hike ! I loved the terrain. I ended up taking more photos of rocks and grass than the view ...
Quite a walk, it was super windy and it got windier as we went up. Wear proper clothing : hiking shoes :) The view is Incredible. Worth it!
Great place to get fresh air . Go there with your loved ones. Kinda romantic after you get to the top :)
Bring specs if you're wearing contact lens. just in case the wind dries up your eyes and blows away the contact lens. You wouldn't want to climb so far yet miss a good view .
DEFINITELY a must do. The view is amazing, the surroundings are calming , and the hike isn't too strenuous, so everyone can do it!
Climb it! You won’t regret it! One of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen
The best place to watch the sunset . Choose the sunny & warm day and go ahead!
We loved this place and took the most amazing pictures! It takes time and effort to go up but it's definitely worth it!
a cool hike not far from the city with many paths so you can choose based on how much of a challenge you want
Bit of a challenging hike to the top but the views are worth it. Pity about the graffiti on the markers though.
Gorgeous. Simple walk, took me an hour up and down (at a fast pace). Steep stairs at the end but they don't go on for too long.
Wow! The climb isn't too bad but can get hairy if wet/low light. Can be very busy and super windy up top. Well worth it though.
Must visit - great views , great pics, really really windy as you get higher - keep an eye on the weather - a warm sunny day would be perfect.
Must do hike in Edinburgh, you can see a panoramic view of the city
What a hike , but what a view after you're done! Take lots of water and get to the top!
great hike and amazing views ...bring a bottle of water bc you'll want some at the top

Lovely views of Edinburgh ; however, it is an intense hike so prepare yourself
Amazing place with a magnificent view . Tiring to get up (specially if you are a smoker) but so rewarding in the end
During my one year stay in Edinburgh, I've lost the count of how many times I climb to the top. Definitely must see.
If it's wet, make sure you have shoes with good tread, or you'll be spending a lot of time on your bum.
The best view of Edinburgh ! Stunning in all directions, and not as hard to climb as you'd think!
Go on a clear day and bring your camera . Breathtaking views
Fabulous views across Edinburgh, the firth, and beyond.
You cannot understand how big Edinburgh actually is unless you climb this hill . It gives an awesome view . Just watch out for falling rocks. There are warning signs everywhere.
Red path was fairly long and pretty steep in places but the view is so worth it.
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh. Go there at sunrise, sunset , sunny days... have a nice climb and enjoy the great view !
Great hiking . Not hard. Beautiful view . Great way to start the day ????
Easy to climb up. Wonderful view . Calm and peaceful place to get out of the city buzzle.
Climb there. Just climb there, really. You should do that. The views are fantastic (be careful while making selfies, though)
You know the spots the locals would tip you off as a place to go? Well this is one of them, stunning views of the city and once you decend back to ground level, pop in to the parliament for a costa!
Worth going to the top for a great view .
Great views . Quite the climb ! Take some breaks along the way.
The path that starts off extremely steep near the Dynamic Earth center has a beautiful view and after finishing, you can climb to Arthur's Seat relatively easily. - Lauren McManamon
Historic ruin with a great view across the city - Russell Harrison
Stunning views and nice as less popular than the usual Arthur’s Seat and Carlton Hill - Antonella Tamburello
Best guided audio tour of any of the Scottish castles so far. Well kept and plenty of access. Only wish it was possible to go more around outside, but understandable there’s need for restrictions - Ole H.
Beautiful! A must go place in Edinburgh! Has an amazing view of the city. - Fernanda Araujo
The view of the city from up here is great. It's a steep walk up the shortest path, but well worth it. - Peder Stray
