Get here early if you can as in between 9-11am otherwise it's really crowded on weekends and great fall weather days. One of the best apple picking , pumpkin patch places I've been. Apple cider donuts !

We visit Carter Mountain Orchard every fall to pick apples and enjoy the amazing view from the top of the mountain . Go early in October if you want to still find a lot of apples in the trees .

Great fun for all ages. I really liked the wine tasting- unique aswell. Try the wine slushies on a hot day and enjoy the view on their deck. They nice variety of things to buy

They do some events on occasion in the evenings and there's nothing more romantic than stargazing on the mountain with a good bottle of wine .

Better view and infinitely cheaper than Monticello. Don't wait for fall, they have wine and apples year round. Eat donuts , they're a treat.

John Carter acquired this land while being the Secretary of the Colony of Virginia. The mountain was named Carter Mountain in 1729 & upon his death in 1742 the land was given to his son Edward.

So much fun to just hang out and enjoy the view . The apple cider donuts are amazing!

If you've be er had fresh apple cider , you have to try it. Fresh cider tastes completely different than pasteurized, try some.

Edgar Rice Burroughs based his famous science fiction character, John Carter who first appeared in the book "A Princess of Mars," on the namesake of Carter Mountain Orchard.

Fuji apples are the sweetest. Don't leave the orchard without tasting some of the apple cider donuts . Mmhm.

Bring a picnic on a nice day and enjoy the gorgeous views . Also try the muscadine grape slushie . Really yummy!
