Vegetarian ramen is rich and has depth. Vegetarian bun is just vegetable tempura inside a fluffy bun . Less than 15 minute wait at 5pm on a saturday. Come once to try but not really a destination.
Come hungry, but not too hungry—the restaurant is notorious for hours-long lines to slurp its signature tonkotsu-style ramen with rich creamy broth, hand-pulled noodles and chashu pork . Read more
The ramen is good, but surprisingly the sides may be the star of the show. The chicken wings and pork buns were wise choices.
Don’t understand why the rating is so low, it is absolutely delicious! Start with the chicken wings , mouthwatering. Then try the pork and tuna ramen broth; order with thick noodles
Buns are worthy of sharing stomach space with ramen . Enjoyed both the shiromaru special (rich but clean tonkatsu broth) and the akamaru modern (heavier and stronger flavored broth).
There’s a ton of good Ramen spots in San Francisco so Ippudo is just one of many. Make sure to try the sides and get extra noodles if you’re really hungry!
The menu changes week by week. Seems like they are still figuring out their menu. Service is on and off, depends on busyness. The food is high quality, and the more I go back the more variety appears!
Appetizers: Chicken Buns and the Miso Chashu Rice . Really good fried chicken in the buns . Generous serving size in the rice bowl . The pork in the Pork Buns are the same as the pork in the ramen .
So happy Ippudo and their rich flavorful broths have come to the bay area! Buns + any ramen and you will have a solid meal!
Great ramen in heart of SF. Broth is amazing as always! I had Ippudo in NYC and it’s slightly better there but otherwise it’s solid good!
The Karaka Spicy ramen was super flavorful! You can't go wrong with any of the Ippudo buns either. Definitely worth the wait.
Get the Karaka Spicy !
Get the Akamaru Modern!
Get the pork buns ! 1 for $4.5 and 2 for $8.
Shoyu ramen is incredible, gonna try the classic spicy next time. Chicken buns and lychee ice cream are must haves ????????
Something was lost in translation from the nyc spot. But alas a pro tip for my followers: ask for firm noodles
Just as good as the one in Upper West in NYC. Also, just as packed and is normal to wait. Loved it, though.
The lunch line isn’t very long.
Ramen is good, I like being able to pick my noodle and how firm or soft they are. Everything else I tried was good, but nothing to spectacular that stood out.
Ippudo is always great, love their classic ramen and the shishito peppers !
great ramen , and also there is a bar !
The spicy ramen was good. The shishito appetizer was very good as well .
Chicken bun is pretty good, but akamaru is not as good as the Ippudo in New York. Pretty disappointed. The broth doesn't taste anything, just like hot water with mild spicy flavor :(
I hate to say it but I like the buns more than the ramen
Disappointing compared to NY Ippudos. The chicken wings were RAW on two orders! On the second order, 2 of the wings were cooked but 1 was still raw. The ramen is OK. Go to Mensho instead!!!
The spicy and classic ramen were both really good.
Decent ramen - get the spicy . Good rooms for groups. Quick service .
Akamaru FTW
Ramen almost as good as the originals in Japan
This place has the best ramen I can expect in this country .
get the veggie bun over the pork bun !
Great ramen ! Chicken bun was also delicious, as was the cucumber appetizer . Mensho is still #1 in SF though ????
Its not bad, but putting cheesy sauce in rice with chashu pork makes it too heavy. And the ramen was worse then in other Ippudos.
Best ramen in the bay area!
Akamaru is delicious broth!
Akamaru ramen special
So delicious....
Great ramen . But portions are small for the price.
their ramen is good
Great ramen !!
Ramen is good but I've had better in the city for that price. Ambiance is cool though
Slightly different menu from NYC
Thin noodles make me sad. ????????♀️
Be careful how much you order because they don’t carry ANY takeout containers for you to pack up food you paid for but can’t finish.
The tonkotsu broth was ... disappointingly bland. The tamago is not marinated. The bonito ramen was the winner.
paying for brand name not quality
Kara~age ....
Aka veggie
The service is horrendous. Unbelievably bad. The worst part? We waited in line for 30 minutes even though there were 20+ empty seats inside the restaurant . Ugh.
Totally thought this was a barber shop on a drunk night out. Came in for a hair cut but left with a belly full of orgasm and noodles .
The vegan ramen is incredible. From a non-vegan, what is this sorcery?! (The chicken ramen here is great too! ????) - Grace Patuwo
The house ramen is pretty good and the fried chicken appetizer was excellent. - Subhasish Das
Lovely decor (baskets for your belongings under the table!), very unique, extremely creamy ramen. Wish they added eggs. Open late. Super friendly. A bit pricey, but worth the try! - Diana Arz
You must try the Dolby theater if audio quality is important to you. It’s the best in the city. - Tantek Çelik
Convenient location. Easy to find what I'm looking for and get out quick! - Tiffany Kocielko
The frozen Chana Masala is on point. Great for stocking up and eating when you can't be bothered to cook. - Vansi
