At Kennedy School, you'll never want to leave. Here you can have a pint in a classroom, enjoy an aged whiskey and a cigar in detention, enjoy a movie in the old auditorium.... The possibilities here are endless. (Just don't run in the hallways, please. You might spill your beer.)

It's an old elementary school with everything you could want for an afternoon of entertainment. I highly recommend watching a movie here on a weekday followed by happy hour at one of the bars .
Awesome restored school converted into a hotel/restaurant/bar/soaking pool/movie theatre. It's a trippy experience. We go for the $5 movies in the auditorium - plush vintage couches instead of seats.
This old elementary school has been turned into a restaurant , bar (s), movie theatre, hostel and soaking pool . There's so much to explore here. The Detention and Boiler Room bars are recommended!
Cute place to catch a movie and have some beer or pizza in the theater and in one of the several bar/restaurant options
Great for entertainment: bars , bar games, movies , more bars , hotel rooms... Pay extra attention to decoration, it has a lot of meaning. Last renovation project made by Siegner and Company
Soaking pools are where it's at. You can bring beer into there if you'd like, just don't forget to grab your license back from the front desk.
If the Courtyard Restaurant is full, or even if it is not full, hit the Cypress Room . And what the hell, come before 8pm and use the soaking pool first. News Flash!!!! They take dogs now!!!
Hotel rooms are spendy, but a neat experience - sleeping in school! I loved the big windows and the chalkboards were fun.
Cajun tots are amazing. And such a bargain!
Love the late evening hot tub (more like the size of a small pool) after 8pm it's 21+, and there are lots of things to eat and drink on-site. You can even stay over if you get too smashed!
Cool idea overall. Rooms we're small but well decorated with cool light fixtures and furniture . The facilities and ambiance are what sells it
Great beer , good food, and a fantastic atmosphere. So much to see and do... and stamps to be had.
Went here with out of town guests. Interesting place and you need to really explore it. There are half a dozen different bars in this place. Outstanding
The movie theater (and the food there) and the soaking pool are fun!
Did you know? The Nickelodeon, the world’s first movie theater , opened in 1905. Kennedy Elementary School opened its doors ten years later in 1915, but wouldn’t become a movie theatre until 1997.
Though, the menu is a bit pricey for the food the atmosphere is great. Love the Boiler Room Bar , the veggie pizza is good!
love this place! Great atmosphere! Great place to train and have a conference !
Amazing place. Get a beer and walk around.
Definitely get the Cajun tots !
Just stopped for lunch and a beer or two. What a cool place.
Soaking pool is awesome! If the restaurant is full head to the cypress room . Kids admitted until 10 pm.
Word to the wise: the soaking pool is usually closed for cleaning on the first Tuesday of each month.
Went with a colleague who used to live in Portland. Had a great meal and loved Detention really cool bar !
Great Lamb burger special . And veggie chili soup was amazing.
Make sure you have enough time to stop by every little bar . This place is excellent.
Make sure you show up tardy for school otherwise you won't get to experience the cool bars ...like us
Open book steak : extremely fatty cut. Bready saturated in butter and grease. Flavor far below great.
This school's been converted to a hotel , complete with bars and restaurants . At any McMenamin's, order a Rubinator -- half Ruby, half Terminator Stout .
Read something of the steam punk genre while sitting in the Boiler Room bar ... Awesomeness!
Bring cash if you're running late for a movie & not planning on eating, they'll let you cut the line & pay for the tickets so you can get seated right away.
Great food. The boiler rooom has delicious Sundried arthichoke dip
Grab a small cigar for a couple bucks in the cigar room
Never ask for a mimosa and then when the waiter says it may take a while because he has to make it, then ask if they have to pick the oranges ... You end up with cold coffee you never ordered..
Just a few blocks from ELS, the Kennedy School features a restaurant , movie theater , soaking pool and hotel .
Wonderful atmosphere and great food and brews.
Elementary School converted into a beautiful restaurant/bar/hotel area :-)
Favorite place in Portland. The layout of the different themed rooms is awesome!
$3 movies on a couch with cajunized tots and beer delivered to you...dreamy!
Cold, burnt fries and a stale bun on a $12 Bison Burger ! Usually I love going here but this time the food was just plain bad. See my pic: would you EVER server those fries to a paying customer?!?!
Want a free drink during the BCS game? 2 even? Register for myBeegle.com, and find RJ at the Boiler Room bar . He'll buy you a couple, while his wallet lasts that is. . . Read more
This franchise is intuitive. Well done.
It's as if every room in a school turned into a speakeasy .
Go here if you want to see something different.
Salmon with bacon a tasty treat
The pear sidecar is wonderful.
check out the soaking pool . free for Concordia neighborhood residents and guests, $5 for everyone else. like a giant hot tub . kids welcome until 8:00pm
Never, ever try to soak on a Sunday unless you are prepared to wait for an hour and be surrounded by little ones with floaties (and floaters probably).
If you're vegan , this place sucks. There is one vegan item , besides tater tots and fries , and only two items that can be made vegan , a basic iceberg salad and a hummus place.
Funky alternate hotel option but no tv in rooms.
Awesome pizza n cider must have for anyone
Great place, with shuffleboard and pool. Try happy hour, good bar food and beer is nice and cheap - Enrique Gutiérrez Arzate
They're going for a sort of Caribbean vibe here… great selection of rums, reggae music, etc. - Alex Brehm
Black and town brownie is f'ing awesome!!! - Paul Erekuff
Great staff! Rooms are comfortable and the wifi access is great. - Jonathan
Super clean, awesome location close to everything. Very modern! - Edomia zaide Berehe
Enjoyed a drink and appetizers here. Very prompt, generous service! I hope to return for another visit. - Ryan Tamares
Everything is good here but my favs are the ooey gooey chocolate brownie, honey lavender, snicker doodle and arbequina olive oil. I only go when there is no line so week nights after work are good! - Ami K-M
