Go up in the California tour ! It’s about 40 minutes and you learn more about San Diego’s history with a stop on each floor.
The San Diego Museum of Man is punctuated by the California Tower , a stunning Spanish-Colonial structure completed in 1915 for an exposition celebrating the completion of the Panama Canal .
Make a reservation for the CA Tower to get some neat SD history. The view isn't bad either!
The PostSecret exhibit is great. Catch it while you can!
Really good museum . Just note your not allowed take pics and do not bring children under 12 we saw a woman with a 6 year girl that was getting upset but I would really recommend this for adults
Did you know? Like the zoo , and other museums in Balboa Park , the Museum of Man began as “The Story of Man through the Ages,” an exhibit at San Diego's 1915 Panama-California Exposition . Read more
If you've been to the Smithsonians in DC or the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa, then this will be a disappointment. However the Mayan hieroglyphs make it worth it.
Located in the heart of Balboa Park , this museum features many fine exhibits on the Native Americans of Southern California.
Pretty kid friendly but lots of neat stuff for adults to see and be entertained also. Pretty cheap too.
Don't miss the Instruments of Torture Exhibit . Creepy, but very good and interesting.
Free on Tuesdays and the museum has great dinosaur exhibits , bones and videos. Outside the sunflowers are blooming , and the botanical gardens are close by!
Many interactive exhibits , a lot of fun to try to be an archeologist
The torture devices are fascinating, if creepy
Spend a few hours. It's worth it.
Interesting museum although the current cannibals exhibit was a little disappointing
Summer hours: open until 5:30.
Pretty museum exterior.
Bring your camera - we allow photography in the majority of the museum !
After seeing reviews I was excited to go, it’s not what I was expecting at all. If you’ve ever been to a museum , you’ve already seen this one. Finished this in about an hour. Don’t waste your money
Go see instruments of torture. It is pretty fascinating.
While this building looks like an old church , it was built to be a museum .
Tour of the tower is a must
Highly recommend
Good spot to shoot.
Check out the ancient beer tastings. Yummo
Special event .. A+++++ just went to a wedding there this past Saturday... Amazing!
Free every 3rd Tuesday; great exhibit on Ancient Egypt (actual artifacts ; not re-creations)
Know about your ancestors
The roses in bloom
The shunken heads are freaky!
Stupid name change.
I didn't see a single woman the entire time I was here.
Ótima seção de múmias.
