Russian General Store

Great selection of goodies from Russia and other East European countries . Many of the products are made by the Russian immigrants here in the States . Excellent smoked fish , yogurts , cheeses , etc.

Wonderful selection of delecacies and treasures. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, but if you don't speak Russian, you may want to bring Google translate along.

Excellent Russian red caviar and while smoked fish ("balyk kapitan"). Good selection of rye breads , including from Latvia and Lithuania. And a very unique Russian rye bread drink - kvass.

Another good Russian store. I'm crazy about their home-made sour cream , not fat, but full of flavor. Lots of goodies from Russia, Eastern Europe and Israel.

If you are looking for hard to find East European wines biscuits tea food this is the place. There is also a Turkish shop about 3blocks further north of Hillcroft

I love their "Russian-style" Napoleon cake . Less sweeter than those locally made and the cream much tastier.

wish they had more stores like this throughout Houston like closer to Ellington at least.

Smoked meat is the best!

Stay away from wines in nice bottles that claim to be from Armenia and Georgia. They are most likely cheap fakes that taste like water with color and sugar.
