昭和46年10月「東京駅を起点とし、上野には駅を造らず上野公園 地下を通過」という国鉄の新幹線計画発表を受け、地元で上野駅誘致運動が発足。誘致運動の甲斐もあって1977(昭和52)年に新幹線上野駅設置が正式に決定したという。
扱いが残念な感じに…。
