The fish and chips has made the Anchor justifiably famous, but everything on the British pub menu is reliably delicious, filling, and supremely affordable .
Best fish and chips . Ever. Period. Get a spot at the bar and watch the masters in action- frying fish to perfection. Very fresh fish - seated front and center and there's no noticeable "fishy smell."

The short , affordable menu - nothing costs more than $10 - consists of the hearty, traditional fare that two of the owners, Irish expats, grew up on, right down to the baby-food-style mushy peas . Read more
Very arguably the best fish and chips in the Twin Cities area. Open kitchen - sit at the bar and watch the magic happen. Small space, expect to split up large groups.

Come for breakfast . Order a Guinness , then go next store and order a double espresso to go. Come back to Anchor and your beer will be ready and you can pour the espresso in. Best breakfast beer around
Great food, but a very cold room with tremendous drafts as people use the door. On cold winter nights the front third of the room is really unusable. A huge negative during winter. Come in summer.
Why would you get anything besides the fish and chips (with tartar sauce )? Also you'll probably want to get water because the fish and chips are just as salty as they are delicious.
Awesome fish and chips , delicious cole slaw , amazing burgers , and great beers . And their specials are always good, too.
Best and largest cod filet ever for the fish and chips . It's always busy though so don't come starving.
Can’t beat the prices and the fish is outstanding. Service isn’t outstanding but the food comes out quickly
Of course you are going to try the “Real Deal” fish & chips ($8.75), they're the best in town . Friendly and comfortable , they also serve classics like Shephards Pie ($8.50). Read more
Voted as having the Best Fries by City Pages in 2011! The Anchor's fries are the ultimate simple man's food on a simple man's budget...just $2 for a small, $3.50 for a large.
The Fish and Chips is hands-down the best in many, many miles. That and a beer of your choice is all you'll need, and all you'll ever need.
The fish and chips was amazing!
The meat pastie is super tasty (really is more like a fried knish) but be warned - there is no meat in it. It's all mashed potatoes inside (ala knish) but don't expect more than a 1/2oz of meat.
Awesome place with fantastic fish and chips .
Wish you were in London? No money? No plane tickets? No time? No problem! Head to The Anchor and you'll feel like you have crossed the Atlantic. And don't forget to order the Shepherd's Pie !
Try the Fish & Chips , naturally. Gorgeous fish in a sweet, malty batter crisped to the heavens is not as easy as Anchor makes it look.—Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, February 2011
Gotta go with the fish and chips . Amazing piece of fish was a delicious, crispy coating. Yum!
Get take out (no wait for a table) and take it to Dangerous Man (where they have great beer ).

In my opinion, they have the best veggie burger in the Twin Cities .
Voted by City Pages in 2010 as having the Best Burger . The Helicopter Burger at Anchor is worth risking an airlift to the nearest hospital .
If they have it, get the mussel salad . Spinach , bacon , garlic , leeks , shallots . $6. Ridiculous and amazing.
