We had a great time. Food was really very good and serve also was genuinely friendly . The local Shanghai dishes were especially good. The fish was my favorite. Good selection of wines .
Satisfying shanghainese fare. The vinegar marinated crab is a must try! Fleshy crab full of roe marinated for 7 days in local 'yellow' wine and vinegar. Awesome flavours! Also try the 鲥鱼 & 红烧肉。
Authentic shanghainese cuisine ! Make a reservation or buy a bottle across the street at constellation wine & have them serve the food to you there. Pork in soy sauce and crab jelly noodle recommended!
Tianping Lu is still the best but if you can't get a reservation and visiting, one of the mall versions will do. Ambiance of the original is much more fun and local.
Extremely wide range of classic, traditional, Shanghainese dishes. Delicious food! Good service and accepts foreign credit cards.
Don't miss Dates stuffed with Glatinous Rice !! Crab roe jelly and Braised pork in brown sauce are also recommended.
Authentic Shanghainese cuisine in a low-key setting. Book ahead or you could be waiting well over 30 minutes for a table.
Easily the most authentic Shanghai restaurants in town . Great place for out of town visitors. Order the braised pork knuckles when making reservations !
this place still opens and busy as usual since 2000. I was just 6 back then. the taste of those dishes never changed. always recommend the moyuhongshaorou. SO GOOD
Drunken crab (cooked) is good! So is the crab roe jelly if you love it.
Really good food but quite oily... This is how Shanghainese food is like though... Remember to get 心太軟 for dessert .
Nice shanghai local food in a local style old building . Taste good but always crowded and small table and small building. Almost tourist worldwide here, not cheap . Try 紅燒肉 and 蟹粉 if you're a foreigner
With its curmudgeonly waiters and tiny, crowded dining room, the original Jesse location on Tianping Lu isn't just a meal, it’s an experience. Read more
The crab with jelly noodle is delicious. And the drunken crab also. Book ahead, walk in is pretty much impossible.
Small restaurant with only 7 tables, serving excellent authentic Shanghainese Cuisine . Try the Crab Roe Rice Noodle , Baked Fish with Scallions , Stewed Pork Belly with Man Dou, and Red Lantern Chicken .
Authentic Shanghainese Food . Really delicious. ????
I appreciate this truly authentic restaurant . One of the best among shanghai with no doubt.
Don’t miss the sesame scallion noodles !
If you can get a table you'll get some great value and tasty local shanghai food .
Absolutely amazing food. Get the pork in soy sauce and the fish head!!!
make sure to book your seat before your visit
Have to try the fish head and the shrimp . Everything was very good
The food is so so so good!! Amazing. Must do.
Make your reservations . Easily the best Shanghainese food i've had in Shanghai so far. Charming decor.
Very good Shanghai food . No doubt. But price is not exactly cheap and you have to call waiters to have dishes changed when they play cards next table to yours....
This place is ridiculously crowded . Prepare to fight for your reservations !
Better make a reservation before you go. Dining space is cramped, but food served there is pretty good.
Braised pork belly is really good
The best Shanghainese restaurant in the world. I argue you to find another better.
Nice location and neibourhood
Bad service-texting and ignoring guests.I looked forward to special seafood and got just fried shrimps. They even didn't bring us all ordered dishes and finally higher prices on the bill than in menu!!
Skip the lines by coming after rush hour on a Sunday night
Try the Chinese yellow wine piping hot and with a preserved plum in each cup!
Make sure you make reservations early. Try to order the fish head one day in advance
Good food, good pricing, average service
Reservation 1 week ahead for 2 dishes and called to confirm; they were sold out after arriving?! Vegetable dish never came--had to ask to be told it was sold out an hour into the meal?! Terrible!
Salty chicken not as good as other restaurants , but the chicken soup and crab roe tofu are yummy!
Order the pidan doufu, wine chicken and salted chicken !
The best Shanghainese Restaurant in Shanghai. Make sure you book first.
Shanghai local food
crab roe potato soup
Overhyped or maybe Shanghai cuisine is just not my taste.
Book first.
still the best Shanghai food ever!
Absolutely TERIBLE service in whole restaurant , the worst Ive ever seen. Dishes were better average, atmosphere in restaurant very bad. Small tables, too much ppl. Would never go again
Authentic Shanghainese food, reservation recommended. We liked the 醉鸡 (drunken chicken), 蟹粉粉皮 (crab roe jelly noodles), 烤麸 (Kao Fu),煎小黄鱼 (fried yellow fish). 臭豆腐 (smelly beancurd) was not to my taste.

The hong shao rou here is superb. Great sweet sauce with tender melt-in-your-mouth pork. In it are chestnuts and quail eggs. - Jin Ngee Chia
Wow! Excellent Chinese food. Goose liver, wild mushrooms and vegetables and a great Bejing duck. If you are a sherry fan you should also try the yellow wine! - Pat Cold
Reasonably priced Shanghainese food in a nice casual setting. What's not to like? - Vincent Law
Nice bar to enjoy time with friends. Cake is amazing and the staff noodle is the best. - Freesoul Y
Fun place to go once a year or bring visitors to. Really touristy, crowded, and fun. All kinds of knickknacks and crazy street food to buy like drinks in blood bags! ???? - Dave Mc
The place is so nice, and it has many choices of good restaurants. - Francisco Lopez
