Terminal 5, TWA Hotel (JFK Airport) Queens , NY 11430 United States
Absolutely stunning architecture in this decommissioned terminal, designed by Eero Saarinen . It opens up once a year in October to the public as part of Open House New York. Do not miss this.
Decommissioned in 2001, this cathedral to aviation by Eero Saarinen fills you with the pride & optimism the aviation industry had in the '60s. Preservation efforts saved it from the wrecking ball.
It is a reminder of a time when air travel was marvelous, stunning and had elegance. It will be soon the main lobby for JFK's first world class hotel and be in its full glory. ????
This is a Saarinen masterpieces. I love the texture of the wooden forms used to cast the concrete of the main structure . It looks smooth from a distance, but has an amazing organic texture up close.
Sit in the lounge area and reminisce when flying was civilized and a total luxury that only the rich could afford .
Amazing design. A time capsule.
Fly JetBlue and you can experience some nice vantage points of the exterior from Terminal 5 Read more
Makes you feel like you're back in the golden age of travel... Or on The Jetsons...
Only open to the public one day a year in October during Open House NY weekend.
Beautiful. Unfortunately they only open it on limited occasions.
The best ever. Miss it so much.
Spectacular hotel lobby. A good option for preserving Saarinen work!! It’s a shame the poor outside views ... maybe a higher structure would have been a better approach at least for the room views ...

Cute cafe to grab eats and mill around. The salmon and truffle pizza are great, then head to Connie for drinks or vice versa. - Judy Cari
