Skip the star-spotting crowds at Runyon park and head to one of the lesser-known, but equally beautiful hiking trails in the Santa Monica mountains where the view is great!
Great spot to picnic and relax. Mind the speed limit, 15mph - people, children and dogs enjoying a peaceful walk. :) STOP fully at stop signs or risk ticket!!!
North of the Upper Franklyn Canyon Reservoir , you'll find Glastonberry Grove and other Twin Peaks filming locations. If it's a nice day for a picnic , have one like James & Donna, or Audrey & Jack!
Sweet little park to explore that is tucked into the hills . Great for kids and a decent amount of shade even on a hot summer day.
Located in the serene hills off Mulholland between Sherman Oaks and Beverly Hills, this secluded park boasts ponds , wildflowers , old-growth trees , and storybook-cute wildlife .
The lake here is where they shot the opening for the Andy Griffith show with a tiny Ron Howard. See if you can find the hidden pond with fish .
You can see some amazing views here if you're taking back canyon roads .

The park rangers are super uptight about speeding. And yes, those camera enforced stop signs actually work.

Ask Ranger Joel about the trails and the animals. He gives great advice. The Hastain Trail is wonderful with great views !
A little boring, but the quiet this close to the city was pleasant.
