Legend has is that this is the oldest taverna in Athens . It feels like you are in the previous century, like pre-war. The food is authentic , cheap and delicious. No sign, no menu, no English! Excited?

Well worth the scavenger hunt to find it. One of the oldest Tavernas in Athens , established in 1875 and frequented by Francis Ford Coppola :)

This one is like marmite ; you either like it or not. I love it. If you can take a dive in time and have the stomach for it, go by all means! A few dishes and a few tables. Authentic is the word.

The oldest tavern in Athens (150 yrs old). Only has 3-4 dishes but is worth the visit!! You will probably have to wait in line but it’s worth the “old Greek experience”!

The description of the place sounded very intriguing and I was tempted to try this place. However area is not very nice, we did not find the place right away & did not feel comfortable looking around

hidden underground wonderful taverna! just a couple of dish of the day : go for them!

ο αειθαλής κύριος Δημήτρης ψήνει σαρδέλες, βράζει ρεβίθια και σας τα σερβίρει σε τραπέζια κάτω από τα βαρέλια (εννοείται ότι, αν δεν βρεις τραπέζι, κάθεσαι με αγνώστους)
